Hey
i have a tube of vegemite i'm thinking of taking with me to the USA (Think of a toothpaste like tube). would this fall under LAG and if so would i better buying a jar instead?

and another random question - do QANTAS serve red bull on board?

No, they don't serve red bull, and probably for good reasons!

Also, if you're checking in the vegemite with your luggage, it shouldn't matter I think?

LAG rules only apply to carry on. Unless you want to eat the vegemite in-flight (in that case make sure the tube is less than 100ml), put it into your checked luggage and you'll be fine. I'd suggest getting it in a plastic jar rather than a tube, as otherwise you may fine vegemite through out your bag. (Baggage handlers are not known for delicate handling)

Vegemite is allowed into the USA-we declared it to Customs just 3 days ago at LAX and as before no problems.
Vegemite(even in a tube)is considered a fluid. If it is over 100gm(yes not mls which would be less for vegemite) you can not have it in your carry on.

This reminds me of a time when QF check in people refused for a man to take coffee beans on board, "because they could be crushed and made into a paste."
