In September I am on the TG GUM special thanks to USDM. I have my 'free' Amex flight to be booked before end March as I intend to cancel the card early April.

What would be the advice as I'd like to interline the bag VA CBR to TH SYD. I could just use the freebie elsewhere but still wonder about issues as it's 2 separate PNRs.

Don't do it. It's too complex for the VA baggage systems to handle.

PS I get the strange feeling you might be our next resident Shayne..........

Que? Is that about - asking too many q's? I've only done the one booking btw.

Ok, I won't do it, thanks.

Well I am gonna ask a dumb question as well (no gmoh, yours wasn't dumb :) ). I am just not getting this GUM as a destination thing? Is it meant to be a cheap way to access US? Why the rush of AFFers there this year? And how does this transition into the amex free flight gmoh?

I have tried reading other threads on the subject but it just hasn't hit me yet. Yeah I know, dumb as a box of hammers. Feel free to pm me if it is something that needs to spoken about in code. ;)

BTW Smit, loved your gum TR.

Have a look at the USDM 'post successful bookings thread', look at the routings (i.e. stopovers) and then look at how many miles are required ;) 'We' as in AFFers only really realised its potential last year.

Thanks Smit. USDM Oz to GUM and LF to stateside. I have tried dummy bookings on the LF site and (using option Smart Search - multiple airlines) almost always come up with "sold out". It might just be me...

Forget about LMs on this route - way too hard and only USDM allows you to cherry-pick ridiculous itineraries.
