Have just completed the hypothetical questionaire, screen shots from hypothetical fares and inclusions. Interesting the different fares between the 737's and the A330's in J as well as different inclusions at different price points.

Definatetly some weird combinations.

That is really weird...

Where did the survey come from? Third party research or VA direct?

OH dear! Is this preparation for the departure of the A330's from the Coast to Coast services so they can be redirected to INT ops????

If they did, presumably it would be swiftly followed by the departure of VA's C2C FFs, so they can redirect their custom to QF.

Frankly, nothing would suprise me dk4, airlines sometimes seem to make odd decisions and then spend much time putting a spin on why it is a positive change!

You would almost have to think it's a mistake, With the more expensive Y giving less points and no checked baggage among other anomalies

The people who write these surveys are very switched on. By putting these 'out there' ideas on the list, they're really seeing what's the absolute worst they can do to you that will still keep you flying with them.

There's a reason there's so many options provided during the surveys. It allows them to filter everything based on the options and see what is most important to you.

Way too much psychology in these things. I actually try and game them a little as I know how they work!

What aaflyer said - there is absolutely a method to this madness - by showing all kinds of crazy options in different combinations, they're working out what's actually important to you.

For me it is simple. If they do remove the A330's and simply return to 737 services on transcon, my business will go elsewhere. If they put the same seats in to the J class of their 737's and matched the service delivered then I'm not fussed. Y class is a different case when you consider access to toilets. I just really have a very bad feeling about the whole situation.

If they ditched the A330 C2C it would seem very ironic that QF has just spent a small fortune installing flat beds to better what VA currently have on offer.

Sounds a lot like 'Business' Class in the USA.

That is exactly what I thought ..... not good, there are a lot of paying for checked bags in those options.

A few strange little things going on like the out bound VA trans-pac flight numbers changing on Saturday March 7 just for that day -
VA1 to VA3 and VA7 to VA5. Curious stuff indeed .... you have to wonder.

[Tongue in check] What's wrong with just asking "what's actually important to you"...? :p ;)

I don't think there is any likelihood of them dropping the airbuses from coast to coast services.
It would be inconsistent with their entire recent strategy to evolve to compete with QF in the business market.
And anyway, they need the greater capacity on those routes.

I hope I'm right. I loathe the omnipresence of 737s.

Sounds to me like they want to offer both options...and you pay less for the 737 option.
