I am a DJ platinum member travelling SYD-LAX ina paid business class seat. I linked my booking with my partner's who is flyingsame class on my points.

I asked the call centre clerk to be seated together.

Her reply - she can't sit my partner in the (vacant) seat beside myself-allocated seat because we are not both platinum members.

Her solution -check in early and ask them to sort it out at the last minute.

I asked to speak to someone with the authority to do something and she told me no one has thatauthority in the call centre.

She told me I should send an email to the Virgin contact centre.

I received theauto-reply saying contact would be made within THIRTY DAYS. A tad too late for me.

Has anyone had any joy from this simple (at least to QF) request?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's cough.

I'm flying the first leg of my BNE to LAX via AKL (granted on AirNZ) in Economy then up to J for the rest of the flight (AKL - LAX).

AirNZ have put me and my parents (x2) in PE for the flight (i'm flying them over as a gift)

Flying MEL - DRW VA put me and two guest together, in PE, booked on a Y ticket (i'm Platnium).

Your Platinum status washes over anyone travelling with you.

Call back, ask to talk to the Velocity Platinum desk (lately they've been diving through to the general call line).

Act like nothing has happened and ask again.

Being you are both in the same class (regardless if paid or points) it shouldn't be an issue

The fact here is that it is two separate tickets we are talking here.

From time to time, there have been reports of agents over the phone unable or not willing to move seating.

All I can suggest is to try again.
