just notice a new 'sticker' on teh VA booking engine today "fast fare".

Searched and couldn't find what it means.

Only found a few throw back articles to DJ many years ago.

I believe they're similar to a "reduced" fare but at a cheaper price with a more limited time frame.

You'll find them for under-booked flights and at times of the day that are less popular for pax (early afternoon on a weekday etc).

Been seeing them more frequently lately.. which is good for those of us who tend to book last minute or not too far in advance.

Didn't know that. Will keep an eye out.

How low do they go?

It depends on the routing. I frequent SYD-BNE and I see them quite regularly:

In this case it's $20 cheaper than a reduced fare.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm not sure when they occur. I normally see them 1-2 weeks out, they're usually a pretty good deal.

Do you arrive a little earlier than the rest of the passengers?

You leave your airfares that late? I'm waiting to book July/August.

Normally book 2 months or so in advance, though it really depends on what my work situation is as well as visiting family.

How do you know where you will be that far ahead?
I'm lucky if I book a week in advance.
Although I just booked flights for easter to use my platinum upgrade vouchers before my review date.
Hopefully these fast fares will come in handy.
I assume they're only on saver fares?
Has anyone tried booking one and using a discount code as well?
(I know it shouldn't work just worth confirming.)
