Hi there
We are using VA points on SQ for business SIN-SYD.
What aircraft has the best business product

I can chose from
77W
772
773
388

also any suggestions for 5-7 nights accom in SIN for a romantic stay (ie: 5 star, resort features, close to things)

oh, i do love trying out new cities :)

thanks for your help.

The 77W, A380 have almost identical seats although A380 tends to be quieter. The 772 that does SYD should have same seats as well although use older IFE system. 773 will have regional seats. (At an angle). So in order I would take 388>77W>772>773. But having said that day flights give a more enjoyable overall business class experience.

As for accommodation what is your budget per night?

i am looking at around $3k-$4k for a week aud ($450aud-$550 aud a night)

The thread really has nothing to do with velocity points and everything to do with SQ

but im using VA points...and the SQ forum scares me :)

Have you looked at transfering your VA points to SQ and booking though KF? Higher surcharges $ but less points even with the loss on the transfer + I believe there is better availability though SQ.

As stated above the J product on the 777W and A380 is the same however if you can get the mini cabin behind F on the 777W I reckon it would win out.

Not true - the 77W seat is much better than the 388, particularly if you're at the bulkhead.

I'm in Singapore frequently, and have spent 5 nights at the Capella. Probably the best hotel I've stayed in, and their Sunday Brunch is of legend. It is the opposite of Marina Bay Sands. More of an understated retreat with impeccable levels of service rather than selfie sticks in the pool. It just might be a bit over the budget though.

Actually you are right, I forgot SYD now usually gets the new 77W (77WN) seat , which is meant to be better (I am told tray table height is a problem). However if it is the older 77W seat, the difference between the A380 and 77W is marginal, and bulkhead is better on both aircraft.

May or may not be useful but I found the outbound trip on the 777 in the day to be more enjoyable as the older J seats seemed more comfortable as seats and I felt the service was at a higher level. The overnight (or sleeper) inbound on the A380 was suitable for those wanting to sleep but otherwise not quite a memorable experience as the seat was not as comfortable as a seat and the service was not quite there.

BTW I did not use the IFE on the outbound as I found the screen quite unusable.

Just did a return on SQ in J, the A380 seat is cough compared to the 77W! go 77W all the way and try and get row 11 or any bulkhead.

I think we will...as it's also a day flight I think so max use of the facilities :)

do do they have a bar on board like VA 777

There are two 77W seats in operation an older one (which is for all intensive purposes the same as that on the A380), and a newer improved seat. AFAIK, all SYD and LHR 77W flights and some MEL 77W flights use the new product. Many European flights still have the older product. You obviously got the new one!

Must have, dont get me wrong, the A380 product was ok, but my cough cheek hurt from having to sit sideways to get my feet in, and the leg rest only went up on the one side. the 77W was a nicer seat, more comfy in the cough, better legrest, and you dont need a steward to convert into a bed like the A380. Had some shmick LED mood lighting and a better screen i didnt have to squint to see, the remote control was also nicer to use on the 77W.

Booking the 77W again ex BNE via MEL. hope i get the new one again, more SC from MEL than SYD

I enjoyed the Cantonese restaurant there, resort looked nice too :)

I lived at Rasa Sentosa for 18 days. Great if you have kids with you while you're working ;)

The "long" commute to Marina Sands was all of 10 minutes iirc.

I just searched CBR - SYD - SIN - CPH - OSL and would like suites.

As a newbie I'd like to ask, as SQ website doesn't show CBR - SYD sector, does that mean I need to phone SQ? If so, is there a best number to call? Cheers

Edit, actually I originally searched SYD - OSL and that was fine, but, CBR - OSL didn't work.

I too have the same issue - SQ don't actually do included connections to an exit port. This is confirmed by email from Krisflyer support.
