Using sign up bonus for NZ flight

Hi Guys,New to the complexity of FF programs.I'm trying to work out whether it is worth signing up to the AMEX explorer to get a return flight to Auckland.From my understanding you convert the 100k points to velocity and then book.I currently have 110k anz black, waiting for the velocity conversion bonus but can use that as well.Cheers

With 100K Velocity points you can book a business reward return from the east coast to Auckland. Whether it's "worth it" is a personal decision based on how you value those points, what other uses you may have for them, and how you value the business product on that route/aircraft. :-|

I've assumed business reward here; throw in some cash for taxes and you'll have enough points for 2 x economy reward returns.

well if I book with cash it costs >850 for the dates I wantseems dumb not to

Have you checked if reward flights are available on the dates you want?
