Just wondering if I am able to use my expired FF card to check-in for Syd Dom? I've moved and misplaced my replacement card and really don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new one.

I believe your answer may be no. There has been a case of a member on here having an expired card being confiscated by QF whilst trying to use it for check-in IIRC.

Gah that is a pain. Hate getting the printed tickets but will have to make do in this case.

While I recall such happening in the past, with Qantas Cash now on the back of every card...if you're using it as a primary card like I am, I'd like to see them try take away my only working bank card ;)

Just make sure you sign the back to keep up the illusion.

Besides, as soon as the ticket prints with the same status on it, there's no worry!

Hassle? When mine fell out of my pocket in TSV, I simply rang Qantas and told them that I had lost my Qantas Cash Card.
A new one was provided in around a week at zero cost. 1 phone call, maybe not even 5 minutes.

I was under the impression there was a 5000 point fee for getting a replacement card. Thanks for the info.

Looks like you might have gotten a nice consultant.

I would see no issue with a kiosk domestically since it just reads the FF# to find the PNR anyway the status is not relevant.

Yes, some of the people of a certain generation still like the old style carboardy type of paper.
More real they feel.
Some have even still got the printed etix with the barcode at the top.
Me, I flash my QF SG card, and get stares, **((what is the muppet doing without a BP))**.
I sometimes even wink at the girl or guy when they say my name.
Secret business... I like to think of it!
If you do OLCI, you will still need either your QF FF card/QCC/mobile phone with QR code open for gate agent to scan though.

er yes, but I'm pretty sure QF did away with paper tickets some years back. Interestingly I wonder if any agents still issue such even for RTW type tickets. It would sure be a novelty to see one. I have some oldies I have at home as fond memories of good trips.. some on AN stock (RIP)

I've actually been searching around trying to find out if QF will actually accept a paper ticket for domestic travel - I mean I guess they'd HAVE to but the best I could do is references back to 2004 when QF put a $25 surcharge on paper tickets in a bid to do away with people wanting them.

I suspect e-tickets are so widespread and accepted by most people for everything from concerts to flying (and thinking just about every sort of ticket I have purchased in the recent past has either involved printing a "ticket" with a barcode to scan, or not needing any kind of paper confirmation - the exception being sports events like the footy etc) that actual paper tickets are rare for most things these days.. Certainly with airline travel most people expect an eticket as a matter of course.

Anyway this is a digression from the topic I think. Still when I check in with AA and get one of their "old style" BP's that pretty much mimic card ticket stock it takes me back. Very fond. hopefully more of the same in a couple of days for me :)

Use a mobile device to check in and have your boarding pass text msg too you.

You scan it at the gate like your card.

I wish I could train my boss' to scan their card. They insist I check them in in advance!

I have used expired frequent flyer cards many times with both Qantas and Virgin as I misplace them a lot. Not sure what has happened to my Virgin card as the one in my wallet expired September 2014.

And while I do get comments occasionally the cards have never been confiscated. I have even used the card overseas. And I think it still works on the check-in kiosks as well.

As for paper boarding pass you can always ask for cardboard boarding pass to be printed in the lounge.

I have about 4 cards that I use (yes I lose them occasionally and then find them) to checkin and board. The barcode in the back is the same and I haven't had any issues thus far.

I had Qantas issued an e-Ticket for me last year because two legs of the journey in Europe were on train (interestingly with a QF "flight" number, but not earning any points!!).

having being through all 4 QFF levels (NB to WP) within 6 months back last year, i can confirm that the barcode number at the back of your QFF card doesn't change with every new card, so is the QF cash card number too.

Are both the frequent flyer card expiry date and the Qantas Cash expiry date expired? My ff expiry date is 31 Aug 2015 but the QCC expires Oct 2015 so I'd be annoyed if a lounge dragon chopped that up when the reverse part of the card was still valid.

Were they checking in at the QP or JL of with a checkin agent? I have heard that happening however that was prior to the introduction of the cash card component on the back.

People still use paper tickets for domestic?

I think daturtle means printed boarding pass not a paper ticket. It may be a good idea to just checkin at a kiosk by scanning the old ff card then print a paper boarding pass which you can show to gain access to the lounge. That way it eliminates the chance of either a CSA at checkin or a lounge dragon cutting up the old card.
