Hi all,

I am trying to find the best way to use up ~ 150,000 in EK points. We no longer accumulate EK points and since the revision last year in redemption rates, have switched to different credit cards and preferred carriers.

It seems that when I do flight searches using EK on Qantas routes, not all routes are available. E.g. you cannot select Tokyo or Honolulu as destinations, but you can Hong Kong or Singapore (150,000 would get us an economy return for two to those, but we don't want to go to either of those locations).

Does anyone know why all routes don't show up, or if there is a way of booking those routes?

Thanks in advance

I'm not that familiar with the EK Skywards program, but I would have thought that you can use your Emirates miles to fly on any Qantas flight, provided there is award availability. Have you tried calling the Emirates call centre to book? My suggestion would be to search for the flights you want on the Qantas website, and if reward seats are available then try booking over the phone with Emirates.

Im fairly sure you can only use your EK points on routes that qantas and Emirates both serve until you get to DXB. For Example Emirates don't fly to Honolulu therefore EK points cannot be used. Emirates do fly to Tokyo but only via Dubai so unless you fly to Dubai first (which is a big waste of points) then it will be possible. Emirates fly to from Australia to Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Auckland, Christchurch and of course Dubai. If you want to visit alternative countries i recommend spending your points to go to Singapore or Hong kong to open up some possibilities on a further more desired destination.

Lots of seats available in J and F from Singapore - We have had no issues in the last 3 bookings by selecting 2 F seats from Singapore to London.

This is not correct. Emirates points can be used on any Qantas flights where there is availability. Can be used domestically too.

I'm unsure of how to use my EK points to get to HNL then. As I cant seem to select a Qantas flight on the EK website. Unless of course I can use my EK points through the Qantas website which I didn't think was possible.

What class of travel are you looking for?

You can redeem your EK points on this leg - but you will need to call them. But as it is such a busy route, there is little availability (you might be able to get Y, but J is very rare - even for QF members).

FWIW, I'm using my EK points on JAL (NRT return).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Check availability on Qantas site as a bronze member (you are unlikely to find much on the HNL route even a year out). Then if you find availability call Emirates to book the seats using your Emirates points.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Good to know Its possible to book a flight to anywhere Internationally via QF using EK points. And correction Emirates don't fly direct to HKG from Australia, silly me.
