For selected departures in march and april.

Never seen such good value for direct international flights out of Cairns. 2 verz short stop overs in Guam and Honolulu.

And it's a 737 to Gum, 777 from there isn't it?

Long way in a 737 but the price is good.

Looks interesting - have some little people that may be interested in going to Disneyland. Would love to see United or indeed any other carrier return to CNS-HNL services non-stop. Will also have to do some research on how to join MileagePlus or some other Star Alliance FF program to credit to....

Like to know J prices too.

What days do they fly CNS vis Guam to Lax return?.

Seems to be only 0100AM QLD time on Monday morning from CNS to Guam - so once a week? It seems the CNS-Guam leg is the limiting factor, once you get to Guam and HNL there is obviously plenty of different flights and avialibility on UA.

The last return leg Guam-CNS would get into Cairns late on Thurs night at 2340pm CNS. By the way it looks like the return US to Australia connections all really suck (+37hrs flying and transit time) so would probably be quicker to come back to Australia some alternative way.

Thanks eastwest101, thought there might be a catch to it.

I'm thinking CNS/HKG/SFO might be a better option to the USA, seems more award seat availablity. Even Y to HKG ret and Award J to SF) (or lax if one must).

Hong Kong is a great stopover city, excellent shopping, one of best airports there is and CX lounges a joy to be in, then the new CX J seats so good other airlines installing them.

think I've sold it to myself :) .

Correct about via HKG to SFO, I was thinking about with the sucky connections back from LAX to CNS it would be a good excuse to stop for a while in HNL on the way back to Australia anyway. Certainly the connections going from CNS to LAX direction are really good as the OP said.

This flight varies in frequency. It will go to almost daily in the coming months then 2/3 pw during this time of year

United fly out of CNS to GUM twice a week, monday 1am and friday 1am. My flight time both ways is 21 hours including stop overs, which in all is not bad considering what i am paying. I dont think by the time i flew to BNE, changed terminals and got onto a straight thru flight, the 2 hours id maybe save would not warrant the extra cost id have to cough up getting to BNE.

If you select a 15 day flexible with dates itinerary on united.com from CNS to LAX youll see the deals available, the cheap pricing also goes on later into the year.

As an aside, I checked simple Cairns - Guam economy flights on United yesterday on bestflights.com.au and it came out at $850 return. I was hoping to find some cheaper fares so we could check out a different pacific destination :(

There is a long, but verrrry very cheap way of getting to and from GUM through USDM as its in the same zone as Australia............

The problem still remains that it's UA ;)

We get stiffed in CNS on the connections via BNE/SYD - both on price and flights.

If I'm in whY I'll stick with the better product on VA/QF - although I have seriously considered UA before when the price was sub $1000 - but even that was via SYD.

A little bird told there is a strong possibility of CNS/HNL on JQ in few months time. Of course if going onwards this opens up many USA mainland cites.
