Just heard a report that a United B747 has collided with an aerobridge on arrival at Melbourne. Aircraft and aerobridge are damaged but no reported injuries. Wonder how this sort of thing happens. Was the aerobridge left out too far from previous (not so wide body) aircraft?

Good reason to keep your seatbelt on until the seatbelt sign goes off!

The biggest $$$ costs for repairs for airlines are for tarmac rash. Comes out to huge $$pa across the globe.

woops! wonder how long the aircraft will be out of service, will have a flow on effect

the aircraft operating the MEL-SYD tag usually ends up doing the SYD-SFO flight but it seems they have simply cancelled UA840 altogether today, both MEL-SYD and SYD-LAX legs.

There is a tweet from someone called Paul Kovacs on twitter:

Our plane just ran into the terminal at Melbourne airport, cracking the wing. Gotta love United... We now have to exit using stairs...
