trying to decide if i'm better off moving some MR points to AM or keep using SQ for flights.

https://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redeem/charts

basing on a trip SYD-NRT I'm assuming the miles is calculated ast SYD-HKG-NRT so would fit into the Zone D mileage?

I see one-way business - 70,000 and business class 120,000

What's the difference?

Seems in terms of miles AM is higher but likley a much lower level of taxes if similar to the low taxes when using QFF to book CX.

Am I on the right path?

Business is for a return flight-good discount if you can get availability both ways
Mileage is flying distance so includes stops
Taxes better than SQ esp ex-HKG

use the flight award finder to confirm the exact amounts for all sectors, AM also does oneworld awards

Just redeem on SYD-NRT on JL and it would cost you 80K and 120K Asia Miles on J and F return.

That is a very good deal - thanks for pointing it out. Can it be accessed through the AM website? And what's the skinny on general availability?

I've been eyeing Asia Miles myself as I expect to spend all my AA (via US) miles stash next year on Bolivia & Brazil and need a future source to get to South America for a trip to Peru & Chile. NZ doesn't seem likely to have availability plus EZE is out of the way so a QF/LA combo is better even if they are stingy with J class and resigned having to go in Y.It looks like QF can be booked as a partner award online but you have to call for LATAM. We need a 2 partner w/o CX award. Does anyone else use Asia Miles for South America? My main source is AMEX PLT Edge.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You need to call them. Suggest you use BAEC to search for JL flight availability online before calling Asia Miles to redeem the flights.

Also QF flies SYD-HND which also falls under the 80K/120K J/F return ticket.

CX is pretty good for OW redemptions compare with QF. They have better stopover rules than QF as well. Eg. You can do SYD-ADL-HKG on QF/CX J for 80K Asia Miles, with stopover at ADL each way. It would have cost a lot more if using QF points. This is great because SYD-HKG award seats always get taken very early on, but ADL-HKG award seats are much more readily available.
