Hi

I will need mobile, pre-paid internet next month in the UK. What company has the best coverage?
many thanks

Yeah, O2 probably has the biggest network, although there are still plenty of places where there is no coverage.

For their mobile broadband information see http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/o2mobilebroadband/tab/Pay_and_Go

I'm not sure if you can purchase access with an AU credit card. Have been told that it won't work previously, although that was a year ago. Any top-ups must be done online - can't walk into a store and buy a voucher etc.

Hmm, so given I'm moving over there shortly ; what's going to be my best option? I won't be able to top-up until I have a UK bank account sorted?

To connect to vodafone at least, just go into a vodafone store, hand over cash for a sim and credit and away you go. No need for any credt card at all. You can buy additional credit in cash ( or any card )at stores

Topping up using a credit card using the automated system from the phone doesnt work with non UK cards

I found all SIM’s they sold have a 18+ restriction on them that could only be taken off by using a CC online, at a cost of £1. So bare that in mind if you’re planning to use a 3G dongle on sites that might be blacklisted. Do you know if you can remove that restriction in a store with cash?

Of course, it all worked as soon as I started Tor.
