UK - Cancelled and changed flights

Gday,
We (2 pax) booked Manchester to Doha to KL to Adelaide return for December months ago.

Qatar airways, Qatar airways, Malaysia airlines.

Malaysia just brought our outbound KL to Adl flight forward by 10minutes. We now only have 110minutes in KL.

Malaysia just cancelled our outbound flight from ADL and rebooked us onto one 29 hours earlier. this gives us less time in with our family.... but also means we have about 37 hours in KL instead of a manageable 7 hours...

Ive also paid 80 pounds or so far parking at Manchester....

I have decent travel insurance.

what are my options? Am i entitled to 600 euro compensation?

Is 110mins okay in KL with changing airlines and with luggage?

Can I cancel my qatar airways and malaysia airline flights and get Malaysia or Travel insurance to pay any charges.... then i can book alternative flights? say manchester to dubai to Adelaide with Etihad. this is about 150 pounds each more than we originally paid.... will travel insurance/Malaysia pay the difference?

Unfortunately not, since the cancelled flight was not operated by an EU carrier and did not originate from the EU.

IMO should be fine as long as you don't have to change terminals.

You should be able to argue that the change is significant enough for them to waive cancellation fees / penalties, and get a full refund (although this will take time), but you won't be offered any compensation. I also doubt your travel insurance would cover this unfortunately.

Best bet is to contact the carrier you booked the ticket through and discuss options; there may be another routing they could put you on (e.g. ADL-xMEL-KUL).

As far as I am aware, they are both OW airlines and your baggage should be booked straight thru..

Different tickets unfortunately. I assume qatar wont interline bags for us

I guess the next step is to ring up Malaysia Airlines - doesnt seem reasonable tho.
