UAE Visa when travelling on Qantas Codeshare

This might be too early to ask, however I'm a bit curious. Previously when Qantas transits through Singapore, I do not need a visa for stopover. However, as I'm not an Australian and my passport does not qualify me for Visa-on-Arrival in the UAE, any idea whether Qantas will have some special arrangement for passengers travelling on the codeshare arrangement to use the Emirates online visa application process?

The online visa process states that it is only for people arriving and departing on Emirates. Now what if I'm arriving/departing on Qantas (QF or EK flight number) connecting to Emirates to Europe? :-|

I actually didn't think about that the other day when entering the QF competition to win a 5-day trip to DXB. I am an Australian Permanent resident (as required to enter the competition), but I only have a Canadian passport. The Canadian embassy in Dubai recommends applying for visa 15 days in advance. So even though it is really unlikely I would win the competition, obtaining the visa in such a short time frame could be tricky.

The full T&Cs include this clause:
15. The prize does not include passports, visas, meals, taxes not included in the price of the airline ticket, ground transportation or any other costs of a personal nature not stated. Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize-winner and their companion.

Now for the OT part: Why is it that Canada behaves like a kid when it comes to Emirates and Etihad landing slots in Canada?? I haven't lived in Canada for years, but I think that the unfair competition argument is a bit ridiculous. I don't think many Canadians living in Toronto would fly to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha when their final destination is London or Dublin...

Which country is your passport from?

In my case I have a passport from Indonesia. But I'm sure this applies to any nationalities not listed as eligible for VoA, which is quite a small list compared to Singapore's or Hong Kong's...

I agree, transiting won't be a problem. However, if anything out of the ordinary happens, I'd rather not be in similar situation with these pax stranded while transiting in Paris... I'd rather have the option to go outside, have a good sleep, food, and a bit of walk, rather than pointlessly "trapped" airside.

I believe winners are to be announced on the 21st? In that case, assuming the Emirates online visa application can be used, they quote minimum of 4 working days (which is barely doable) - again, only if Qantas pax can use that facility (I'm guessing not...) :-|
