Tropical cyclone Ita 2014

I've been paying a little bit of attention to cyclone Ita as were due to arrive in cairns Monday 14/4.

Wondering how far out Virgin release travel warnings or if by Monday it may have all just 'blown over'..

Anyone have any thoughts/comments/experience with weather related travel concerns.

I am flying in to TSV on Sunday.
This morning the forecast for sunday was wind gusts to 90 kmh.
This afternoon it is 20-25 so I feel relieved.

Well if you live in Cooktown and your home was built before 1985, consider evacuating. Cat 5, cannot get higher!

Well by 7pm Saturday it will be a tropical low southwest of Cairns so Monday should not be a problem.follow it here-

My Qantas flights to Cairns got cancelled. I've been on the phone for over an hour now, trying to get refunds for all of it.

Both their FF centre and their hotel centre are closed, so I have no idea what I'll wake up to on Monday. :-|

All virgin flights before 1500 have been cancelled for today. And any flight this weekend can be cancelled changed to a new destination within 30 days free of change.

Our flights for Monday are still as is and not applicable to any changes.

Will be interesting as it's a DSC flight what will happen if they cancel it.
