First thank you to those who answer queries on here – much appreciated.

We leave on our trip on Sunday – flights as follows:

23/5
QF 680 Adel – Melb arrive at 12:25
QF 9 Melb – Singapore depart 3:30pm

25/5
QF 9 Sing – Heathrow arrive at 5:25am 26/5
26/5
QF 3573 – Heathrow – Nice depart 7:50am – codeshare with BA service

19/6
BA 818 Heathrow to Copenhagen

30/6
BA 770 Stockholm to Heathrow arrive at 5:15pm

30/6
QF10 Heathrow depart 10:05pm – Melb arrive 4:45 2/7
2/7
QF 671 Melb – Adel depart 7:10am

As can be seen relies upon no volcano, no strike/s by BA, no delays

I assume luggage tagged Adel to Singapore first off? Then will be Singapore to Nice as are all Qantas coded flights?

I assume as Mrs D and I are both members of Qantas FF we both get points for our travel?

I assume we can claim FF points for the Scandinavian flights with BA from Qantas? If so how do we do that?

If delayed by volcano or strikes I assume Qantas and/or BA will help look after us plus perhaps travel insurance? Time delays flights not connecting would be relying on airline and our travel insurance to assist?

We have been assured that 2 plus hours in transit at Heathrow for connection to Nice is OK time wise – guess relies on flight arriving on time from Singapore and that we are transit passengers only?

Any thoughts/comments would be welcomed
Cheers

Bags should be tagged ADL-MEL-SIN when you check in at ADL. If there is an "International Connections" desk there, use it - otherwise present your itinerary and they'll check things through (and issue both boarding passes). It should be a quick transit in MEL - just follow the "International Connections" signs.

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't receive points for the QF flight numbers assuming they're commercial tickets or Anyseat Rewards booked (not classic rewards and not an Anyseat Reward booked before March 23 2010). Granted I don't know your booking class on Qantas (eg N/O/P/W/Y/T/J/A/F etc) , but I expect it's eligible. If you look at your booking on Qantas.com, it should show you the class (and you can post back or double check against Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions )

Can you see your BA flights listed when you log onto QFF and look at upcoming flights? If so, BA should already know your QF FF numbers and points should credit automatically. This again relies on the BA flights being in an eligible class. So same deal as the Qantas flights - refer to the BA section Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions and check your booking classes are eligible. (or post back).

If they are separate bookings, and aren't listed on the Qantas website you will need the PNR (Booking reference). You can then plug that and your surname onto either the BA website or the Qantas website and add your Frequent Flyer numbers (I suggest the BA website, as they will also likely want some passport data added to your booking).

Ash delays should ensure protection from BA and/or Qantas (At least on the BA flights, and QF flights ex-Europe). Travel Insurance may not cover ash issues - check your policy and clarify with your insurer (depends on the insurance, when it was purchased, when the flights were purchased etc). Qantas (and BA) have both looked after passengers fairly well with previous closures.

Note there could be potential issues with striking cabin crew on BA around your return time ... but that can't be predicted at the moment.

As for the transfer at Heathrow - You will need to transfer from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. Follow the signs and grab the bus. I've never done it, so can't comment on the speed. 2 hours should be enough as long as there aren't big dramas at Heathrow, but ensure your walking shoes are on! There's a bit more info on the BA site: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/airpflcnxlhr You also may need to have your boarding pass re-issued by BA when connecting.

Also, another note on Terminal 5 at Heathrow that a lot of people don't realise. You must enter security no later than 35 mins before your flight. If you don't you will be refused entry. I don't know whether this applies to transits as well as landside to airside, but it is strictly enforced landside->departures.

Transfer buses are quick, efficient, and frequent, so you don't have to worry too much. Bon voyage!

From the Heathrow web site you can print out a plan of how to transfer between terminals and the recommended time required.

Less than 24 hours to go - thanks for all the tips will be working the keyboard today!
Not sure how to put in FF number for BA but will pay around on theirs and qantas websites to work out.

Cheers and Thanks

If you keep your boarding passes you can claim the flights when you get back home. I have done this before.

We flew via SIN-LHR-Paris late last year. Our flight landed 5.10am and we had a 2 hour transit to next flight. I too was a little apprehensive but found the transit smooth and quick. Once landed there are plenty of signs. We jumped on a transit bus it took us 18mins to terminal 5 very quiet that time in the morning.

Once at T5 we had time to duty free shop, ring sister-in-law in London and have a coffee.

I think I looked up the BA site and read instructions for transitting between terminals but once there it was easy

Happy holiday

You should be able to use "Manage My Booking" at the BA site. Once in the booking, under "Your Services", "Your Details", there is "add frequent flyer number".

Otherwise when you check in (It's pretty much mandatory to use Self Service Check-in machines at T5), there will be an option to input your FF number as well.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
