Dear Trade Partner,

We would like to inform you of some changes related to travelling with Infants.

Effective Monday 15 May, an Infant charge will be introduced across Jetstar Domestic Australia flights and Short Haul International markets (JQ). This will be applicable for new bookings from Monday 15 May – existing bookings will not be affected.
Please refer to the pricing table below;

JQ flight typeFee per one way journey
Domestic flights in AustraliaAUD $30
Domestic flights in New ZealandN/A
Short haul international & Trans-Tasman flightsAUD / NZD $50
Long haul international flightsAUD $50

Note: the fee applies per journey. For sum of sector customers, the fee will only be charged once; this is calculated off the dominant sector.

What kind of term is "journey" for an airline? If it means per flight, why not say that? A 'journey' for many could mean, for instance, MEL-xSYD-BNE.

Oh, and as for the fee ... what else would anyone expect? The infant is breathing the supplied oxygen on the flight, isn't it? :rolleyes:

I should have been clearer and posted verbatim. I'll update the OP.

I assume this means if flying SYD-xOOL-NRT the dominant sector would be the long international one?

Ah .. re 'journey', I thought that was quoted from Jetstar ... not a shot at the OP!

The mummy bloggers will go nuts over this.

An interesting thought, re the fee;
Short haul international & Trans-Tasman flights AUD / NZD $50

If you're doing a return flight to NZ will the fee be AUD$50 on the way over and NZD$50 when returning to Australia?

Awful. Brings it in line with the $30 TT charge already.

Was going to book wife and daughter on JQ in 3 weeks at $119 + $5 seat selection. Qantas is $163.

Shame I bought so many JQ gift cards. :confused:
