Hi All

I am travelling on CX from Hong kong to taipai next week. it was booked through CX but with using my QFF# and now shows in my QFF bookings. Does anyone have any tips on lounges and flying CX as a QF WP. They appear to have a Flounge equivelent i can use. I have checked there website a little while ago and it seems there some alterations going on in HK. Last time i flew CX i was a nobody with QP memebership and they treated me like the scum of the earth! hoping for a better reception as a nobody with WP status (or whatever OW equiv is)

You'll be treated very well as a QF WP when flying with CX and will have access to all their lounges in Hong Kong. The Wing Flounge has been under reconstruction for some time so you're probably better off at The Pier Flounge where you can use the private Dayrooms. You also have the option of using Qantas's Flounge but I generally find the CX Flounges to be better. Enjoy.

Of course QP would get you nowhere with CX since it's Qantas's paid lounge program :)

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the level of attention and the quality of the HK lounges - as mentioned there is a First Class Lounge at The Pier, you may also want to look into the newly renovated The Wing lounge (although only a small first class area still impressive). The Cabin is also quite new and very nice - ask at check-in which lounge is closest or just do a trip to all 3 :)

TPE flights are where a lot of training happens, you'll likely be visited by the leading ISM for a chat as she does her rounds to welcome all the elites back.

Just got back from HK where I had a 5 hour layover and toured all Cathay lounges. I think the cabin is best F with proper dining room more food selection and private day rooms. The Wing will be great when new F lounge reopens. As long as you have a few hours max time walk between lounges is around 10 mins

For me it is gate dependent.

If flying from gates 60 and above then it is a no brainer - straight to the Pier F lounge around gate 63

If flying from gate 1 - 4 I would suck it up and go to the Wing J lounge. There was the "atrium" within that for F/WP - not sure if it is still there.

If flying from gates 14 - 19 I would go to the QF F lounge - it isnt great but saves a large walk

The Cabin doesn't have an F section.

As simon says......

I was there last Wednesday. The Wing J lounge is reasonably nice and they have an area at the top of the stairs to the right sectioned off as an 'F' area but there's no food or drinks there; you need to fetch it from the J section.

Last time I was in the Cabin the impression I got was that it's looking a bit run down and gloomy, but it's still preferable to being out in the Terminal. ;)

The QF F lounge at least has Coopers Sparkling Ale so that keeps me happy there.....

Turn up early and tour all the CX lounges and the QF one. It's definitely worth doing just to see the different ways the CX lounges are laid out and decorated.

Thanks all

I ended up using the Cabin as I only had 35mins. Reasonably good for a standard lounge, the offering in food was impressive for the level of lounge. I also got bumped up by CX on the flight to J on the A330 very nice experience with those angle seats and huge screen.

Sorry in my comments prior I mentioned the Cabin when in fact I enjoyed the Pier First lounge and the Haven was really good for dinner.

And then there are my experiences.

Perhaps I am just a difficult customer and they know me well before I turn up.

That must also be the explanation of ordering a drink on 2 occasions in the Pier F Lounge and waiting well over 10 minutes with no drink in sight.

But that was probably due to lack of customer service by reception at the Pier F Lounge and not being able to see availability in business class on every single flight the next day until we showed them the results on ExpertFlyer. And then magically the results appeared on their screens as well.

Any of the lounges in HKG are quite OK. Even the Qantas lounge (which a lot of people on AFF hate for some reason) where they made us toasted sandwiches.
