Travel Bag Buddy

Apologies for taking so long to post this. This shows the Travel Bag Buddy attached to a cabin bag with a standard size backpack. A few thoughts/points:
  • Not used in anger yet. I'll most likely take this set-up with me this week. Will be a HLO only trip.
  • Build quality seems decent enough.
  • The strap that secures the backpack is elastic and adjustable. I've got it on the maximum length to get my backpack on.
  • The main reason I actually purchased this was for holding on my second back (standing in lengthy queues with a backpack on gets uncomfortable), rather than as a travel wallet. This means when stowing my bag, I'd need to remove the Travel Bag Buddy and find room in my backpack for it. So needing a bit of extra space is a consideration.
  • It can be attached with the second back strap neatly hidden if you have no need for a second bag.
  • Given I'd need to remove the Travel Bag Buddy when say getting in a taxi, I'm wondering if this thing is just going to be more hassle than it is worth. I shall report back after my trip to Bangkok.

Thanks for the feedback and photos Daver6. Much appreciated.

Yes, I can see how perhaps it might be a problem with boarding taxis, etc., but you haven't really travelled with it as yet so hopefully it will prove easy handling for you.

It looks strong and well put together so yes, I think I'll get one.

Righto. Back from my trip. Sadly, I didn't realise use the Bag Buddy all that much. The only time I used it was in transit in SIN. I put it all together (attachedBag Buddy and then backpack to my carry on) prior to disembarking. Was certainly nice not having my backpack on my back. Used it like that to get to the lounge. Prior to leaving the lounge I decided I didnt need it. I knew I'd need to take it off prior to gate screening.

I tend to just stick my passport, boarding pass and landing card in my bag pocket. My wallet and other documention stay in my backpack. Makes it easy enough to access quickly around an airport. I can see how some people would find this a useful thing, but not sure that it's for me. Quality of the product was good and worked as expected.

Thanks for reporting back Daver6. Funnily enough I'll have a layover in Changi on my next trip and will need to transit from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 so it sounds like the bag buddy will be very useful in that case. LOL as a 'lady of a certain age', very few of my clothes have pockets so usually passport, etc., live in my handbag which is a nuisance for me to have to lug around on my shoulder as well as wheeling the spinner so hooking both bags together will make all that walking from terminal to terminal a bit more comfortable. Hoping I'll get the chance to check out the 'Jewel' thing they've built ... did you have a look at it?

I think if I didn't have easy access to a pocket, I'd certainly considerer using it more.

When I travel for leasuire and lug my SLR camera bag around (with lenses), I might try this again. Ie, big suitcase, camera bag and backpack is a pain. Attaching my camera bag to my large suitcase with the Travel Buddy sounds appealing to me.

As for the Jewel, I didn't bother for a few reasons. Main one being you need to clear immigration (I believe) and even though it would have been pretty quick for me with my APEC card, I just didn't have the time and needed to get some work done in the lounge.
