If i am transitting through Changi airport on two separate tickets on two different carriers with hand luggage only do i need to go out through immigration and check in landside and go back in through immigration to board the next flight or can i just go to a transit counter airside and get the boarding pass for my next sector without going through immigration?

Thanks!

Pele.

You ought to be able to just go to the transfer counters to get your onward boarding pass. Go online to check which terminal/counter.

If the onward connection is within the same airline alliance, your inward airline checkin might be able to issue both boarding passes.

You should be fine staying airside but generally for some airlines you need to go to specific transfer counters to get your onward boarding pass if you don't already have one.

What airlines ?? makes a big difference to the answer!

Most airlines have IATCI (InterAirline Through Check-In) where they can check you in for connecting flights. If your 2 airlines have this, and being on separate bookings/ tickets.... when you check in for your departing flight, have all your details handy for the 2nd flight and advise the check in agent when you arrive at the desk and request to be checked in for the 2nd flight . They will give all boarding passes on departure.

WilliamsF1 has a point, but if you are going from full service to budget or vv, the answer will be absolutely no unless you can check in online or on your phone and get a boarding pass with seat before you get on the full service flight. Ditto in reverse.

otherwise, SIN makes all this stuff really easy but if you get your boarding passes before you leave your port of origin, you'll be set to even skip the transit desk

Depending on who the connecting airline is, you may also be able to do OLCI. If you're able to try and pre-allocate your seats ahead of time. Not all airlines will charge a fee for this or it may be complimentary depending on your frequent flyer tier status.

I would also ask the question, is the second flight international? I am no guru but cannot imagine any airline allowing a contact-free check-in and boarding for an international flight.

Is there anything other than international commercially available out of SIN?
