I will fly from HKG to SYD on CX111, ETA 0715, then connect on EK418 to CHC, ETD 1015.
Three hours should be enough for transfer between those two flights. However, what's the procedure?

Cathay flights is issued on a Qantas paper, Qantas said provide them EK reloc, they will do a cross reference. Then the luggage will be checked through to CHC. Once arrived at SYD, just proceed to transfer desk, no need to clear immigration. However, Cathay said they have no interline argeement with EK, I have to collect my luggage at SYD and proceed to transfer desk, without clear immigration?

I did the cross reference to both CX and EK. However, I could not find any information on internet regarding transfers between international flights at T1. Do I need to clear immigration, collect check in bag, clear customs and check in again at upstairs?

Any one know?

Thanks!

If your baggage is through checked then you just need to get a boarding pass, that should mean your are transiting, otherwise you need to get your baggage after clearing immigration and recheck.

If CX does not have an interline agreement with EK, or refuses to check your luggage through to CHC, then you will need to clear customs and immigration, collect bags, clear quarantine and check-in for EK flight.

Assuming CX flight is not delayed then 3 hours should be more than enough time for the connection.

There is a thread on Flyertalk that seems to suggest CX and EK interline although the answer is not convincing.

Thanks!

I've decided not to check in my bags in order to avoid the risk.
Now I need to think how to pack everything with in 7kg and no LAGs.

You may still need to go through immigration etc and checkin, not sure if EK have a place to get your boarding pass airside.
