Im in Tokyo for my 30th in June for 8 nights. I am thinking of going to the Tokyo SkyTree for dinner that night. However would appreciate any tips of great places to eat whilst I am there.

BIRDLAND. Yakitori Restaurant. Ph: 5250 1081; B1F, Tsukamoto Sozan Bldg, 4-2-15 Ginza, Chuo-ku; 5-9pm Tue-Sat; Hibiya & Marunouchi lines to Ginza (exits C6 & C8)You need to book the same day, from noon. I recommend anyone visiting Tokyo to dine here. There are 2 menus, 6000 yen and 8,000 yen. I go with the 8,000 yen as this includes the spectacular cheese dish. The oyako-don was the best I've had anywhere. Don't eat anything during the day or you won't be able to fit all the courses in.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will ensure I check these places out. I am travelling with one other person.

Have a pre dinner apéritif (or post dinner digestif) at the New York Bar, 52nd floor of the Hyatt Tokyo. Absolutely spectacular views.

If you wanted, you could even have your dessert there.

Happy birthday, prospectively!

Lunch - Tempura Restaurant; Tempura Daikokuya (tendon) , Tokyo, Japan

Dinner -Roppongi Robataya roppongi robataya Great experience.....lots of fun. Pretty $$$$ but worth every yen.

Bar - New York Bar, Park Hyatt Tokyo New York Bar UNPLUGGED

Also, the New York Grill is pretty fabulous.....not a natural choice for us however, a typhoon was descending on Tokyo - so we decided to eat in house that night.
