One of the girls was flying home from Europe and I urged her to book on Etihad as she would earn a "lot" of Virgin miles I assured her!

Did not bother to check how many, but as it is 15,000 miles or whatever assumed it woud be a fair chunk of miles.

Doubtless she booked something in a low fare bucket, and has zero status, now as she has been there for years, but does 2587 miles look right to those here?

That is what about .2 point for each mile flown or something?

Calculate the miles distance and do a percentage count on that.
2848 / 4 is 712.
Quarter is 0.25.
Edit: just did the calculation on the velocity website, is 2838 / 4 = 709.5.
And if subclass of Y flown is EY Economy Deal, its 0.25.

If she has flown on the lowest fare she would earn 0.25 points per mile so those miles earnt are spot on

Thanks - now she will hit me up for the "free trip" she was counting on!

Dopey me should have set up family pooling as she is living here (of course!) - was not thinking so many SC were accruing - 60 SC I could have really used - so THEY accrue same level for all economy flights - even cheapies it seems?

Economy Flex fares (Y,B,H) earns double

She didnt fly on the VA code EY metal, not sure if that route she flew with EY does ever carry a VA code, MUC to AUH I mean.

Check out mileage and partner earn rates on VFF.
On cheap fares VFF SC earn is correct too.
On Au VA flights, its 5 points per $1 spent plus any status bonuses.
On partners its per mile flown.
