Hi,

Does anybody know why tiger airways gave away there slots for Sydney not long ago?

I presume it is because Sydney is not within their expansion plans in the *near* future and they would rather concentrate on their other cities.

They probably sought them as a backup for other routes that were being negotiated, or to attempt to scare competitors into thinking their launch was going to be bigger than it was.

I wonder if it had anything to do with contingency plans whilst they negotiated with the respective state governments for their base? When the chose MEL, obviously their need for slots was not as high as if SYD had of been their base.

I wonder if they have actually 'given away' their slots or reallocated to another airline whilst they beef up operations and then will regain them when they look at further expansion mid next year?

First 5 are former Singapore planes, as any other planes added to the fleet will be before 2009. When Tiger Aviation (new holding company for TR and TT) get hold of their rather large order of A320s (2009...i think) TT will get at least 15 of them, most likely more.
