The world's hottest new hotels

I'm pleased that the W Hong Kong made the cut. :)

Is it just me then? My boss loves W in HK, as does my previous boss, as do all my fellow employees. I personally think it is too smart for its own good. Looking for a lift switch in a ceramic book, trying to figure out which floor is "relax" and which is "lounge". It is so hip it hurts. And paying 40 USD for a room service bowl of rice porridge and a coffee did not help either. I loath staying there for some reason. Just did not hit the right buttons. As much as I love my luxury (Conrad BKK, IC Jakarta and Mumbai - suites of course), in HK I prefer the Courtyard by Marriott. Minimalist, comfortable, everything works, service great.

Park Hyatt Shanghai

Situated atop the towering 101-storey Shanghai World Financial Centre, the Park Hyatt radiates calm. Interior designer Tony Chi's decor is almost monastic in its restraint, but unlike monks, guests are invited to indulge: cream-of-artichoke soup with caviar in the Dining Room, an acupressure massage in the dreamlike Water's Edge spa, or a swim past curious egg-shaped sculptures in the infinity pool.

100 Century Ave.; +86 21 6888 1234; park.hyatt.com; doubles from $1058.

Just about to check out of here in an hour. Absolutely amazing. Review to follow. By far the best hotel I've ever stayed in (close second would probably be Four Seasons Mumbai)!

Cheers,
- Febs.

As with everything, YMMV I suppose. I love Ws as I like my luxury edgy, whimsical, happenin' and above all design-focussed. The W HK is easily my favourite W out of all the ones I've stayed at. :)

Beijing Park Hyatt looks good too.
