The view from my "office"

As we are now facing four days in a row over 40 C I took up an offer from my brother and his wife (plus 2 dogs) to go for a walk in the shallows of the Swan River this morning. We went to where he normally sails on his wind-board. It was low tide and an unfavourable wind so we were the only people there. He had brought a crab scoop net and I scooped up three blue manna crabs - all under sized so returned to the water. We saw an Osprey catch a large silvery mullet and stagger off to it's nest, the dogs scared off a couple of stingrays and the black swans were having a rest further out. It was a lovely hour or so start to the day.

A few of the swans - there were probably about 50 of them around the sandbanks

There for work or pleasure?

Please, just a long weekend away.

Only spent about 3 hours in Tirana on bus tour a couple of years ago. Couldn't get over how friendly and sociable the locals were. Some great little (& cheap) restaurants/cafes a few minutes walk from the bus station.

Which bus station? There's quite a few it seems ;)

The next day we hired some bikes and went for a ride along Lake Skadar towards the Montenegro border (stopped just before in Zogaj as the lake road doesn't quite hit the border). We also stopped in at Rezafa Castle which happened to have free entry for the day, win!

The following day it was back to Tirana and a wander around Skanderberg square, they were just preparing to turn the Christmas lights on the tree that night. I wouldn't really call it a Christmas market but it's about as close as you'll get I think..... there was maybe 3 stalls. Most of the little huts were selling food/drink.

Food/drink was very cheap, our last meal was pretty damn tasty and in total including a bucket load of meat (for me), veg/salad stuff for Mrs FB and 1L of wine was about $20.

Another stop on our current little adventure as Casablanca.

The taxi drivers only have one intent and that's to rip you off. We were fortunate that a friend of mine from Marrakech met us and showed us around. Many outstanding places of interest but the centrepiece of the day was the second biggest Mosque. As he was a local with some standing we went anywhere we wanted in the Mosque. Mind blowing even though not as imposing as La Sagrada Familia it was monumental in size and presence.

The upper section shown in the above picture is where all the women must go. They are not allowed on the main floor for prayers.

This last picture is of one of the wash rooms underneath where everyone must go before prayers.
