The view from my "office"

Not the place to post this I know, but I do drink quite a lot of tonic. I also frequent areas with high Malaria rates (and have done so for over 5 years). I've been bitten lots by mozzies (even with precautions of clothing and repellant). I don't take Malaria prevention drugs as they are not good in the long term for your body. I've never yet (touch wood) had Malaria. I sometimes wonder if the small, but regular dose of Quinine has a coughulative and positive effect? Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

My Father in Law is regularly in a place with Malaria, but in many years, he's only caught it twice, both times when he stopped drinking. No G+Ts involved though.

It was such a lovely day in Perth yesterday that we went for a walk around part of the Swan River near Optus Stadium.

The statues of Willem de Vlamingh and an aggressive swan. He was the first European to explore the Swan River - 1697. The Matagarup Bridge is in the background.

The Matagarup Bridge (foot only) and Optus Stadium. There is still a lot of work going on consolidating the river edges.

A new sign for me. Trinity College near the WACA.

I asked the Nelson Visitor Centre for a challenging day walk during my time in Abel Tasman NP - they did not disappoint. Starting from Wainui car park, I hiked up Gibbs Hill and then returned along Abel Tasman Coastal Track, via Separation Point. Great experience and just the right weather for it, 20 degrees and no rain...

On a more mundane note, my office for 8 of the past 10 weeks has been a little interesting with the construction sideshow next door. A 7-storey underground car park is being dug and a crane has been installed in the hole.
So how better to use the crane than to provide sweeping views of the worksite and probably Melbourne's skyline from high vantage; at the end of the day three workers got their own sky view.

I go weak at the knees (now that I can stand) just looking at them!
To place context, here's the depth of the construction, workers like ants at the bottom of a crane that looks like it's perched on 20 milk crates:

Still the dawn light glow is attractive:
