The northern ski season is near - and I'm in the market for a ski helmet

I'm off to the Austrian Alps soon, and am in the market for a Ski Helmet, in particular a helmet with integrated visor. I need some help with purchasing.

My reason for this is that I am frustrated with the experience with glasses and goggles, and can't wear contacts as I require a prism.

Examples of the style of helmets I am looking at are the OSBE Proton Senior (Osbe Proton SR Ski Helmets) and the Bolle Slide with Visor (Bollé Helmets Slide with visor Soft Black with grey flash lens + yellow lens XLARGE (62 cm) )

What I am struggling with is purchasing. I would like to try before I buy - I would like a good fit for my noggin, and nobody in Australia stocks them (not that I'll get a chance to go south to a city with a ski store before leaving).
Has anybody on this forum seen helmets like this in stores in Munich, Salzburg or Obertauern? So far, all I have found is Helm & More just north of the Munich Hauptbahnhof helm & more münchen - Browsing all products

Knowledge of stores and suggestions of other perhaps more German-friendly brands are welcome. And yes, I want to be a Daft Punk robot on the slopes - so no suggestions of special inserts for goggles please.

Danke schön in advance for your help!

Hi here2go
sorry can't help withwith that style of helmet. To be honest i've only ever seen them in the Flying K spped skiing at Les Arcs!
Have you thought about presciption goggles to use wih a standard helmet. I'm not talking about the insert things but actual prescription lenses in the goggles. I think oakley make some available thru opticians. My preference ,except in severe snow storms, is my prescription sunglasses from Maui Jim. Never had sunglasses like them, it's lke hi-def tv for your eyes.
Enjoy the snow . I'm off to France for my week at the end of jan. The bumper season still continues on down here in vic by the way. Enjoy Austria

JEALOUS! Closest snow to me here is on the fast receding Meren Glacier in West Papua.

I've seen the inserts - reviews I've read seem to be fairly mixed, whereas the Daft Punk helmets seem to be universally well received for those that can't wear contacts - OSBE Proton gets rave reviews in the US. I must admit sunnies are great most of the time, but I figure if I'm going to protect my head, I might as well do it properly.

I found one store in Obertauern that stocks helmets made by Dainese, but they are selling out and not stocking more (and too small). The cost of importing to Australia seems to be ridiculous, so it looks like Helm & More in Munich will be the go.

I'll have to do a report on Obertauern once finished - Australians are far and few between as they have no Australian wholesalers for the town, and only a few British ones.
We chose it for a variety of reasons - reliability of snow at that time of year, the fact that it was in Austria (best Christmas markets for the kids) and they have onsite childcare in the hotel - great for my 15 month old girl and my 3 1/2 year old son if he pikes on the snow (I'm trying to get him some practice on rollerblades now, but he hasn't worked them out). The cute factor is that the ski school and the hotel are owned by the Grillitsch family who provided a venue, and taught the Beatles to ski for the movie, Help! My father raised me on the Beatles, so it is almost a childhood dream.

I neglected to mention - I am keen to get Mrs Here2go to try SkiBobbing (snowbiking) in Obertauern. She's got some fantastically freaky foot injuries which require some additional surgical breaks. Her boots have been straightened so they are at a 90 angle, and kept in place with bolts and ¥100 coins as washers. Means she can ski, but can't do much more than kiddie runs. Skibobbing looks like a lot of fun.

Nice reasearch on the hotel. I can recommend the kids ski school at Falls creek. Easy to get to from the village, take the kids from 3 yrs and provide plenty of adult ski time Enjoy !
This was my car on 7 Sept at Falls :D

Nice work! Good height for the resort, all important in December. How cheap are those lift passes E225 for 7 days (A$280) ,my Falls lift pass for 5 days was A$424 . Yes you need to remortgage to ski here as a family

Still dearer than Niseko. But child-minding in the price on site sold us - something which Niseko doesn't seem to have. Only Club Med does that from what I've seen.

Good thing about Obertauern is that there won't be masses of pi$$ed Australians - just a few poms.
Falls Creek does have ski-in ski-out, which is a big thing for Australia (although Obertauern has that too).

Lessons are the only thing proving to be dear - the ski school wants to give Mrs Here2go and I private lessons because of her unique feet limiting her ability to advance too far, and the fact that my ability when I last skied back in 2010 was just shy of the black runs at Coronet Peak. I also suspect that our German (my bad German and Mrs Here2go's complete lack) may be part of it too, as most of their clientele are from Bavaria. Still, maybe just a few so she can ski the Tauernrunde (the loop), and I can confidently tackle Gamsleiten and 7 peaks and I'll be happy. Strange thing is that I'm also looking really forward to skiing into Midnight Mass on Christmas Morning, even though I'm not RC, and my concept of faith is very loose.

Hey. Just had a play on the Bolle europe website and you can get a list of bolle stockists for Obertaurn, Salzburg and Munich with email addresses. Drop them a line and I am sure they will get one in for you for your arrival. Failing that contact bolle direct and ask for a recommendation

I'll have to try Bolle again as their list is out of date. Their stockists only seem to do the goggles. I've just had an email from one of them in Obertauern - they no longer stock Bolle.
