I have booked my two sisters CNS-BNE-CNS on a Velocity Business fare. Today I decided that I wanted to join them so I went to book a paid Business fare. I noticed that the flight they are on has changed to a B737-700 and that you can't purchase Business. At first I thought that the flight must be booked out. I then remembered that J is not sold on the B737-700. This was confirmed as all B737-700 flights have no Business available in the system. I then called Virgin and explained that I wanted to change them to a different flight as the B737-700 didn't have Business. I kept being told that Business is on the all B737-700 flights. I told her that this has happened to me before and I was simpily changed to a different flight. I challenged her and asked her why all other B737-700 flight are not selling Business. After 40mins of arguing she said she would change the two girls to a different flight free of charge. She the said i would have to pay $400 fare difference each. After this I gave up as I was going no where. What should I do as I want to be on the same flight but also want to be in Business.

Thank Brad330

Try again and hope for a different agent?

This type of aircraft change happened to me the other week. I'm waiting for a reply to my query about the refund (presumably of points) the CSM told me I would get

This is a very sad state of affairs. I am sure our recent guest at the Xmas do would be interested. I would suggest a PM to the velocity rep with all details. Let us know how it all goes. I have said before (and was flamed to a crisp) that the cracks were showing with VA and this underscores what I said. The only way they can improve is to hear first hand what is failing. Good luck.

Am sitting on vh vbv 737 700 right now and it definitely has j class cabin with excellent leg room in 1d/f

I thought the last of the non-biz 700s were gone or almost gone by now?

I had a biz 737-700 ply the BNE-CBR route as DJ1220 2 weeks ago and i was on row 3

If VBU has been refitted (as stated elsewhere) one would have to be forgiven for assuming they all have.

All Virgin Business Class tickets, regardless of which way you have purchased them (cash or points) can be changed to different times/dates without fees. For award type bookings you need the same fare class (Q or H from memory) available on the target flight. For cash bookings, you can change them at will.

Very odd to be told you have to pay $ for them - how were these tickets purchased?

J class can be changed without fee's, even name changes. There are 6 700 series aircraft left in fleet. Only two are not fitted with J class. Where this is the case then you are normally contacted in advance to advise you of non J class and ability to change flights.
There is more to this Original Post than meets the eye....

I flew BNE-TSV last week on a Flexi with a business upgrade. It was an old (non business) aircraft and the cabin manager told me I would get a refund from Business to Flexi before dumping a Flexi meal on my tray and disappearing.

Overall I think DJ does a good job with the odd glitch in service standards pretty well the same as any other business.

Thank you for the responses! The 2 original tickets were reception tickets. The supervisor allowed for a change from H to J fare class (unknown to me)!i thought the agent was moving H class to H class (No change fee) that is where the $400 'fare difference' comes into play! I didn't pay that! I am hoping that all B737-700 are removed by the time of the flights so the system lets me buy a Business seat!

A little OT however what's a 'reception ticket'

I have just come back from Sydney (to BNE) on a B737-700 in Business (proper fitout and service). I was scheduled on the 16.00 flight (737-800)and was rung at 9.00 am today to advise Business class was now not available on the flight as it was changed to a 737-700. I asked to be moved forward one hour to a 737-800. The off shore rep went and asked a supervisor if the 17.00 flight had J fitout and what aircraft. Sh ecame back with "YES" is full J on a 737-700. There are a few 700's with the full J fitout. Hope this helps.
