Yesterday I booked a Go fare + blue zone on sale for perth-melbourne flight. Travel in March. Red-eye overnight flight.

Realised after the fact that I should use points to upgrade. Didnt realise cant do that from Go fare.

Extra $80 (change fee waived - bonus) on top of already paid Go+Blue zone put me in flexi-saver after confiirming upgrade seats available.

9900 points later I now have J seat for overnight flight.

Note that QF wanted $299 for red e-deal seat, and no upgrade buckets left on their red-eye so happy days!

Phone assistant super helpful sorting it all out for me. That was the really great part - couldnt have been happier, and more helpful. No doubt also under a bit of pressure today with the rain in SEQ. Answered quite quickly considering too.

Virgin - if you keep this up, you're getting so much more of my flying (off a base of zero!).

Only downside is it'll be a 738 not a 330. Still better than Y. Pray for A330 sub (ok, not likely).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
