I just wanted to share my story of travelling to Sydney on Friday morning that could've ended quite badly!
Due to traffic in the morning, I arrived at the airport just as the flight was starting to board, having no checked bags I quickly made my way through security, got to the gate, got on the plane, and as I was getting ready to take my seat, I thought I'd put my boarding pass in my laptop bag. Opened it, and there was no laptop, instantly remembering that I forgot to put it back in my bag after clearing security.
Quickly went to the nearest flight attendant, and told her about it, she immediately radioed ground staff to go and check. I felt like my heart had stopped beating for the next few mins, not because I'd left my laptop, but the fact that I had a whole bunch of work files I hadn't backed up yet. About 6 minutes later, the flight attendant comes up to my seat and goes "Is this your laptop?" holding my shiny MacBook Pro. I had the biggest smile on my face, thanked her and she goes "It's your very lucky day!"... Don't I know it!
Needless to say, I've just written a nice letter to Virgin thanking them for the quick recovery of my laptop which I stupidly left on the X-ray conveyor belt.
Everyone I've told this to is amazed that I got my laptop back, and so am I!
