Flew with VA for only the second time ever over the weekend to MEL to see King Kong. Usually flying QF domestic, have to say morale overall is noticeably higher with VA staff going out of their way on little things despite wife and I having no status and daughter gold.
With no luggage to be checked in, almost didn't bother using the premium service lane and try the self checkin. Arriving at MEL airport 5pm for a 7pm return flight, pleasantly surprised to be offered either the 6:15 or 6:30 flights which we gladly accepted the latter. With the three of us on two reward bookings, the VA counter staff knew it was going to take time so escorted us to the lounge where she advised the staff there on how to process the revised flight details and then delivering the Boarding Passes to us when completed.
Apart from this exceptional service, VA staff just seem to go out of their way on the little things - offering top-ups until you say no and even getting up out of their seat before takeoff to turn on your reading light (OK I am stupid).
Surprised to be able to book Row 1 for both flights and also to see two VA crew flying in Y Saturday morning to MEL despite the main cabin being jam packed and two spare seats in J.
A big thank you to VA staff with the whole experience of Sydney valet parking, lounges and flights just fabulous and matching last months experience on Silk Air.
