On our recent trip to Hawaii I dislocated my knee & due to broken bone in the knee & all the injury bruising & swelling I was unable to fly in a standard Jetstar economy seat. Ie I could not & still can not bend my knee.

star class was fully booked. Our travel insurance was going to send me home via Korea& Sydney (by my self with out my family or small child).

i was crying at checkin & the staff at Jetstar Honolulu put me in a wheel chair & arranged priority checkin. They then got me a row of 4 seats in the middle of the aircraft so that I could sleep & stretch out.

By doing this I was able to travel home with my family & get straight into the Australian medical services. I got home on the Sunday night they did tests on my leg on Monday & emergency surgery on the Tuesday.

all Jetstar charged us for blocking the 3 seats was $30USD.

on the flight the airline hostesses were o helpful & kind.

so thank you Jetstar for turning what could have been a nightmare & painful flight for me into a good one.

It's always great to hear these positive stories amongst all the negativity. When it really mattered they came through, I hope you do provide feedback to Jetstar so the staff involved can be complimented on the excellent service they provided.

Awesome outcome.

Hope you have a fast recovery.

Excellent outcome.

The frontline staff are usually excellent in assisting with these kinds of medical situations IME.

Was this the trip you did with your hubby who had the bad back?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery too.

With all the bad stuff we hear about Death Star it is nice to hear something positive. Well done jet star!

It was the trip I spent planning for my husband with a broken back. I took out 2 lots if travel insurance to make sure he was fine & it was me whom got hurt. Now we are both out of running action for our overly active 4 year old.

my knee is recovering quickly & the surgeon is really pleased with my progress. Thanks for the kind words.

now to ensure that my travel insurance covers the $10k in medical expenses.

Can only reiterate what others have said about your health and complimenting the airline. Hope you mend quickly!

good job Jetstar, although other airlines would have done the same without charging for the extra seats. i guess that's a budget airline for you.

I think that's a brave assumption to make. You would hope full service airlines would do there best to help but not necessarily expect in this day and age. LCC you should not expect more than what the T&Cs say.

Good to hear Esilef you are on the mend. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with JQ. There can be a bias against JQ on this forum (IMO), I have always received good service and happy to fly with them at the right price.

Excellent work by Jetstar (but would have topped it off if they didn't charge the USD$30 - out of principle).

And if anyone complains about Jetstar again, I'll refer them to this thread ;)

Just can't help but put the boot into what is otherwise a nice story (for a change) about Jet*

Just had an excellent example of customer service recovery from the JQ call centre.
I attempted and failed to change a booking online, got to the fare difference payment page but couldn't progress it further, owed $56.
Called JQ on Skype and the operator calculated I owed $86. Lots of chat back and forth and I eventually said that I would let it go and no-show as the initial fare only cost $115. He asked me to hold once again and then advised that if I paid the call centre calculated difference I would get a $50 voucher.
Pretty happy with that :)

Watch for the sting in the tail with the voucher Princess - I got one from Jetstar once (in lieu of a baggage overcharge refund in cash) which they dated to expire in 3 months - it ended up in the bin.
