Hey guys,

Going to travel with my 4 month old for the first time and just wondering, what would you do if you were landing in sydney airport and staying at a hotel on george st?

1. hire a car just to drive the baby?
2. Somehow book a taxi with a baby seat?
3. Book a limo so your booked taxi doesnt get jacked by someone else at the airport?
4. other better ideas?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

And sorry mods, not sure exactly where this fits in so throw it anywhere you see fit!

Take the pram and get the air train (depending on how much luggage you have).

Sorry for second post - you could byo car seat (airlines will carry foc with infant) and the just install/uninstall into preferred conveyance.

I also often just book a hire car now as the extra cost often works out well worth it for convenience.

forgot about the airtrain... thanks!! will go straight to circular quay on it, will be peak hour though..

Easy enough provided not too much luggage to cart as well - bags with wheels important when also having to deal with stroller.

If you have a +1 travelling with you it's much easier - one deals with child +/- small bags/backpack, the other with "large" luggage. If you plan well what you are taking with you in advance that helps.

You'll have to tell us how you get on!

Just did a brief quote of $67 for transfer in a limo with baby seat on omnicar.com.au (one-way domestic to CBD) - 3 persons
I have used them before and am quite happy with the service (not with a baby seat included though).
I personally think this is more convenient, don't have to worry about luggage etc on trains but more expensive.
Enjoy your travels anyway.

umm so about twice the price of catching the train. I will have to check it out. might be the more palatable for the other 1/2!! Thanks for that!

BTW what is a luxury vehicle. Just curious. I assume a calais or something similar? As the other option is a 7 series.

I always hire a car (with child seats etc). I have a 1YO & 8YO.

You can get a car for $50-$60. Though you need to factor in parking, tolls, fuel etc.

i would get a car if i had a need for it after i get to my hotel. Parking is just such a pain though..... but i guess thats what happens when going to the cbd and staying at a hotel = basically must pay $40 for valet.

I would avoid the train. It's enough to travel with a bag plus carry on, or get about a baby, pram, bags etc . A disaster if you ask me

I would do the Limo and advise them that you want a child's seat and if they can not provide it take your's.

Take the limo, it's far less hassle and if something does go wrong on your travels the limo will be the best run.

What can I say limo it will be. Just realised it's my wife's birthday to so better be limo ;-)

Thanks guys

Wise choice!
I'm not travelling with a baby, though the BMW 5 was a nice ride from Hilton coughet to the airport this morning.

A 5 series would be nice :), but booked with omnicar as suggested. Will have to wait to see what i get. hope its not a crysler 300c or something.............

i just picked the luxury car option, not the more expensive 7 series option. So i assume, being in oz, its gonna be a calais.

p.s. 7 series merc would be interesting.
