Taxes for booking award ticket in RJ with Qatar award points

Hello,

I have been trying without any success to find out if there are taxes and how high they may be for booking an award ticket on RJ in Y using qatar mile? Have called Qatar, but was simpy told there may be a tax, but we dont know what it is. If I request the award, the points are blocked and have to wait up to a week to find out if ticket can be issued and then only find out the tax?

Has anyone else booked a partner airline with QR points and got a surprise with the taxes?

If you use https://matrix.itasoftware.com you can see the price breakdown and the various taxes applied to a ticket. If you can find out which type of taxes you are going to be slugged you should be able to get a rough idea.

I've paid some very hefty taxes on RJ between AMM and TLV before in J.

I believe that taxes/fuel surcharges on RJ are pretty high. The ITA Matrix method of working them out is a good idea.

Buying award Y tickets is never a good idea IMHO.

I haven't found this to be necessarily the case. Taxes on QR are generally lower than QF (though it can vary by route and travel class) and definitely lower than BA.

This is not really relevant though as the OP is flying RJ. The taxes will depend on what RJ is charging.
