Quick question about to book a flight to HNL for 4 with points in economy options are QF3 in a Boeing 767-300/300ER for 144000 points or JQ3 in an A330-200 with Jetstar for 115200 points.

Is it worth paying the extra for the Qantas flight or are both planes/ service similar?

It's a 9:45 hour flight and I'd normally do business but there's no availability with points & I don't want to pay. Not bothered about the points just want to know if the Qantas plane will be more comfortable

Are you travelling alone or with others? Seating is 2-4-2 on JQ and 2-3-2 on QF. Food and beverages are included on QF - not so on JQ.

Group of 4 so seating may not matter in the choice after all?

Missed that in the OP - it then depends if they want to sit four across or two by two.

Did this trip recently in 2nd row QF exit seats 25 A/B & 25J/K, the best Y seats on 767, so much room tray has 3 positions. Will pay more each sector for these exits but IMO well worth it for the huge amount of room.

Was the plane itself ok?

I've just read a couple of bad reviews of the QF3 (said it was an old plane) & good reviews on Jetstar (new plane) on another FF forum but it was about 2 years old

The aircraft is fine, all 767 have had a refurb but its still bland, seats were ok, they supply iPads for entertainment but I have my own loaded, they are held on seat back flap. Service from QF could not fault. Internationally we usually go J but considering the exorbitant QF points + pay, we do this route about once every 3 years and now choose these Y seats.

JQ getting a new Dreamliner this Sept. and 2 more before years end, from JQ reports I've seen could well be this route, so if your travelling later would be awesome, not sure when this will be known for sure.
