Are you really travelling to BDL which is Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, US???

anyway, you bags will be checked all the way through wherever you're going :)

No Not all way to BDL on JQ...might not get there!!!
QF5720 is to SYD then transfer to QF7 ( to BDL is QF4312 on AA aircraft)
Cheers

oh my

you do know you'll need to pick them up at DFW, take them through customs and then drop them off onto the domestic transfer belt, don't you?

Yep...had that bit clear....just wasn't sure what Jetstar would do for me with a QF flight #....we have 1hr 40 to transfer SYD

We’ll transfer your baggage if you have international flights on the same booking through Qantas or one of our interline partners

taken from Jetstars baggage T&C

I'm pretty sure they do on QF codes

[-]Seems they do.[/-] Here is the link to full details including interline partners table.

Flight Connections | Jetstar

[-]slightly confused by this sentence. But the rest says it'll happen.[/-] This says no interline for the OP's situation.

"If you are transferring between domestic flights or are transferring between international and domestic flights you’ll need to check in again and transfer your bags"

The problem with thd above quote is that it's only relevant if fhe first sector is a JQi one eg MEL/SIN on JQ then an onward flight with one of their interline partner airlines.

They need to clarify this on the website and make it clear there is nil interlining from a JQ dom flight.

JQ dom don't even check through to any other JQ dom flights so they definitely won't to QF7 which means that you're going to be pushing it collecting your bags at SYD T2 then getting the train around to T1 to checkin before baggage close off which will be about 1 hour prior to departure.

Whether the HBA/SYD is sold as a QF codeshare flight or a JQ flight makes no difference.

Re-reading I now see that I also mis-read the page linked below. the relevant bit from that page is:

For many bookings we’ll transfer your bags and you won’t need to check in again. They include:

  • Connecting international flights
  • Domestic to domestic connecting flights with Jetstar Pacific
If you are transferring between domestic flights or are transferring between international and domestic flights you’ll need to check in again and transfer your bags. It is your responsibility to make your connection.

The OP will be connecting Domestic JQ (not Jetstar Pacific) to International QF.

So the booking does not include connecting international Flights
It is not domestic to domestic flights with Jetstar Pacific.

It is a transfer between international and domestic flights - hence no interline.

Seems they do. Here is the link to full details including interline partners table.

Cheers, yes confirmed with Jetstar I will have to collect bags and make my way over to T1. As long as it arrives at 10.30 I think we should be able to make it over to Qantas check in by 12....hoping so anyway

What date are you flying? JQ720 (aka QF5720) time is 0845/1030 & QF7 is 1525/1345 at the moment AEDST.

Wait.... So CBR-MEL(QF)-NRT(JQ) on same ticket gets bags interlined, SYD-MEL(JQ)-NRT(JQ) doesn't?

not for a couple of months...took sale option now rather than later when less seats to choose from (flying economy)
Cheers

I thought you only had 1 hour 40 minutes between flights but you must have more time than that. I guest it depends what time QF7 departs the day you're travelling.

Wait.... So CBR-MEL(QF)-NRT(JQ) on same ticket gets bags interlined, SYD-MEL(JQ)-NRT(JQ) doesn't?

Correct on the first option ex CBR.

The second option depends if the SYD/MEL is JQ dom or JQi eg SYD JQd MEL JQ NRT nil interline of bags however SYD JQi MEL JQ NRT where the first leg departs from the internation terminal eg JQ35 bags will be checked through and you'll clear outwards customs in SYD.

Thanks to all for help w questions. Am airside jq was on time departing hobart and early into Syd. Jq could check us through as was advised, but qc could issue boarding cards. Collected bags and trained to t1. Made it with lots of time to spare. Helped that 70 spare seats on plane Syd to dfw
Would not do this again tho. Would definitely take the advice of those that post here regularly. The stress of is jq going to be on time was not worth cost of hotel for a night in Syd ( IMHO )

Thanks again
