smh.com.au said:Sydney Airport's T2 hits 1m passengers
December 5, 2007 - 3:10PM
Sydney Airport Corporation Ltd's (SAC) T2 terminal has cracked the million passenger milestone for the first time.
T2, which is used by Jetstar, Virgin Blue, Rex, QantasLink and Aeropelican, counted just over a million passengers arriving and departing Sydney via its terminal in October, the company reported on Wednesday.
SAC chief executive Russell Balding said the record was encouraging news for the Australian tourism industry, with the Christmas holiday season just ahead.
"T2 is now the busiest of the three terminals at Sydney Airport and is a vital part of the leisure travel market," Mr Balding said.

As most of my flights are on Virgin Blue, I've seen first hand the volume of pax growing at T2 over the past 2-3 years. It's an amazingly busy place these days and a testament to the efficiency of the airline's check-in operations.
After the recent upgrade, I find the facilities to be the best in SYD.
The only issue I find with the SYD domestic terminals is that it doesn't take much now for traffic to go into gridlock. I experienced a few instances this year - one was a car accident outside T2 that shut down the entire upper deck, and another was a malfunctioning boom gate into the main carpark.
Both caused utter mayhem during morning peak. SAC needs to consider implementation of procedures to handle traffic problems. I may be wrong but I have not yet seen any indication they have people ready to deal with these situations.
