Planning trip to NY, 13/11 qf107, 17/11 qf108. Economy.
I wish to upgrade on one sector only. Which would be more worthy?
How many ff points required for Econ to PE and Econ to Business?
Qf 107 arrives into JFK at 1700 hours. Is it possible to be in Midtown area by 2000 hrs for a Broadway show? Thinking of Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino.
Advice appreciated.

A flight predominantly at night would probably be best for an upgrade, but I’m not sure on which leg you’d be more likely to get an upgrade.

As for points, I’m sure someone here knows the number, but when you’re logged into your account, if you go to your booking and choose "upgrade" you’ll probably be told the exact figure per your fare type.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I doubt it will happen to you but my flight to LA was so delayed I arrived at NY at 0530 on AA.

If flights are on time will be fine but can't be guaranteed sorry. Sounds like a quick trip to NY!

AFAIK there is no PE on these flights, Y / J only as A330. Others may have more experience than I but 107 landing at 1700 will usually get to midtown in time for a show.
Just realized your leaving from Sydney apologies and can of course upgrade to LAX. I would ask for the home journey to J

I think it'll be tight for the show even if the flight is on time.

The good thing is there's no Customs go through, so get your luggage and off you go. However, I've waited nearly an hour for my bag to come out, and that's even with all sorts of fancy colourful tags on it.

I'd suggest you pre-arrange transport to take you straight to mid-town. Assuming your hotel is near the theatre, you'll still need time to check-in and dump your bag...

P.S. Definitely try to upgrade the SYD-LAX leg. LAX-JFK is only 4-5 hours compared to 12+ hours.

Definitely the way to go - then have a good chance to arrive as fresh as possible. SYD-LAX should be either 45,000 or 60,000 points per upgrade (SYD-lhr IS 60,000 while SIN-LHR is 45,000).
