Thinking Cradle Mountain for Christmas next year, hubby hasnt been there before.,

Any accommodation suggestions?

For Cradle Mountain, the 'classic' place to stay is Cradle Mountain Lodge, run by Peppers these days, I think. Its a real 'lodge' lodge and closest to the Park (may even be in the park). But if you want this, book soon, preferably TODAY.

Other than that, there are several newer hotels/lodges/cottages abt 1km further up the road, outside the Park. Haven't stayed at any of those.

I just noticed Waldheim Cabins, also in the Park. Don't know the story of those.

May have to revise that a bit. Just had a look on Google Earth and I see there are maybe a couple of dozen cabins around the main Lodge building, and some extensions to it. So probably a totally different experience from when I was there last (when there was just the lodge building, a fantastic dining room and in winter, roaring open fire ...), but it still looks top notch.. There's now a spa :)

Been a few years but only place (really) to stay is Cradle Mountain Lodge. Enjoyed the cabins with wood burning stoves etc. Maybe somewhere new these days.

We have stayed at the Lodge twice.once in the Lodge, once in a cabin.i preferred the cabin with more wildlife around morning and evening.
Have stayed at the Wilderness village.Loved it.Again because of the wildlife and cheaper.Probably not for an upmarket Christmas.
Also stayed at the Cradle mountain hotel.Certainly upmarket but we found it a bit sterile.

Another vote for Peppers. An amazing part of the world up there, wildlife everywhere, spectacular walks through the mountains, etc.
