Do you have points to burn for a JASA? I don't believe you can do this on $$$ alone.

I do have $230K points. I would not like to use my points and happy to buy the ticket as i would like to use my points for next year holidays.

What do you mean by JASA?

JASA's are (J) Business (AS) Anyseat (A) Awards and are a very effective way of getting status/burning points, let me give you an example:

For 48000 points + $200 you can fly ADL-TSV return via BNE in Business in one day, eat drink and be very merry (especially if Vasse Felix is on the J trolley in my case) and earn 240 SCs, however the best value use for the same amount of points is:

JASA-3.jpg

Which earns this:

TSV-DRW.jpg

Now you can see that the 48K spent is much less than 48K after taking in the earn as part of the flights!

If you want to know how to achieve this please look at my sticky:

There are plenty of options ex Melbourne but not good value ones, you could try the HBA-SYD-CBR run (called the Hobart express) which earns 100 SC for 16K of points but it would require a few days of good availability, otherwise ADL or TSV are good ports for the cheaper runs.

Having spent a lot of time searching and finally booking an ASA for my brother recently (to get him to Plat), you can often add a leg eg Mel-Adl in Y (aka as a YASA) to the Adl-Bne-Tsv JASA that Markis10 mentions above without too much additional cost, from a points and cash point of view.

Thanks Mark:idea:! Just helped my brother get to Plat for the first time with your help. Needed 230 SCs by end of June (membership year) with double SC promo.
Day 1: Syd-Adl YASA
Day 2: Adl-Bne-Tsv-Bne-Syd JASA

for $287.69 and ~49K net QF pts (inc 5k Loyalty bonus + pts eraned for trip) for 235 SC = 470 SC with double SC promo

Thanks a lot. Do you know from top of your head as to how much this will cost?

The Hobart Express out of CBR is bees but you need positioning flights. Via SYD is preferred.
