Hi AFFers.
So I know this has been answered in a round-a-bout manner previously but I just wanted to make sure. It seems like at least some AFFers have been there and done it before.
I booked and ticketed VX travel as follows:
JFK-SFO in Main Cabin (Y)
SFO-SJD in Main Cabin
SJD-SFO in Main Cabin
SFO-LAX in First Class
Now based on the earning table, I would earn 20SCs on S1, 15SCs on S2 & S3 and 40SCs on S4 totalling 90 SCs.
In the end (due to the fact I had 2 x 70lbs of baggage) I upgraded when using OLCI to the below:
JFK-SFO to First Class for US$299
SFO-SJD to Main Cabin Select (F was full) for US$69
SJD-SFO to First Class for US$139
SFO-LAX in First Class (remained as ticketed)
Now bearing in mind the luggage fees alone would be US$50 per sector and that the VX First product is great, especiallly for those 6 hour+ transcons from NYC I thought it was well worth the extra dollars.
My question is, has anyone recieved higher SCs based on the upgraded class of travel? If so this could be an extra 135 very good value of SCs and would tip me over to 1500 SCs with a comp partner Gold (unfortunately no partner mind you... yet anyway).
I'm sure that the policy is SCs are awarded based on what was originally ticketed but it seems partner SC awards and even DJ SC awarding has been all over the place lately (sometimes you get more, especially for comp PY upgrades on SYD/MEL for example, sometimes you get less).
So has anyone received the higher cabin's SCs? I noticed one chap got nothing at all when upgrading to MCS from LAX-IAD... not even based on the original Y ticket!
Over to you flyers...
PS. VX now wins all my US transcon business... this is what a domestic airline should be.
