Hi guys and gals.

I've been put in a tough situation thanks to QF.

Last Friday June 17 I travelled MEL-LAX (QF93) in discount PE with DSC offer. My end destination was BOS, but QF93 departed late, and arrived late into LAX.

I managed to check my bags onto the AA flight to BOS, was issued an AA boarding pass, but when I got to the gate, I was told that I had missed the flight by 2 minutes. I wasn't happy, I tried to be as polite as possible, but was cranky due to the whole shemozzle.

He refused to let me board, although I went from international arrivals to Dom departures as quickly as I could.

I told the gate agent that I needed to board the flight due to the fact that I have a disability and was travelling to Boston for a medical conference (whereby I participated in clinical trials, doctors appointments and so forth).

The guy wouldn't budge, and the plane was sitting right there at the gate, WITH my luggage onboard.

It was such a nerve racking 20 minutes for me because I didn't know how or when I would get to BOS, and if I would have to pay for another flight.

I am not kidding when I say the plane sat there for almost the entire time while the gate agent was trying to put me on another flight. I could not believe what was happening!

In the end, the agent placed me on a JetBlue flight (delayed) which didn't leave until nearly 3am, and INDIRECT to BOS (via JFK).

I arrived at JFK in a panic, as I had to find the gate number of the JFK-BOS flight at the JB terminal.
When I found it (perhaps around 1030am ET), I was informed that the JFK-BOS was delayed 3 hours.

I nearly lost my marbles. I had already been travelling for over 24 hours, and it had been a sh##show from the very beginning at check in in MEL.

So I went back to the JB counter, cut to the front of the line (and had a fight with an angry American lady who noticed what I did). The lovely agent at the JB counter issued me another boarding pass and said "run to gate 6 and you'll be on the way to BOS in 5 minutes."

I ran as fast as I could to gate 6 and was on my way to BOS in no time.

I know I've drawn this out a bit, but the problem is, that I did not get QF points OR the 50 SC's because QF were late into LAX.

I couldn't have gone any faster if I'd tried.

The SC's and points from my BOS-PHL-BUF leg have come through. Furthermore, I've received the SC's (including the bonus DSC's) for QF 93.

This will put me in a situation wherebye I will end my year on 550 Status Credits (My anniversary is 31JUL), 50 short of requalifying for gold for another 12 months.

The 50 I should have received would have got me to 600.

This, to me, is completely unacceptable.
I paid $5800 for this round trip (plus more for purchasing extra legroom seats on that LAX-BOS route).

So I guess, the question is. How do I approach QF regarding this?

Pardon my ignorance and ranting a bit, but serious question.

NB: I thought JetBlue were excellent (besides the delays).

Thanks all🙏

What a story. Traveling is a pain those days.

You should be able to claim the sc of the intended route, its called original routing credit (orc) and it happens from time to time. You can call qantas, pick the option to talk to the frequent flyer team. Wait time usually low. Might take a few weeks to get the SC. Good luck.

Side thoughts, with your booking and flight on qantas metal, you probably triggered a status extension, and could be gold even if yous dont reach 600 sc by 31 jully. Check this page https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/status-and-clubs/status/status-support.html This should at least remove requal anxiety hopefully. Also check info about rollover SC, it should give you a head start for the upcoming year.

Also the status credits for the ORC are valid for the scheduled date of the flight, not when they get into your account.

so if you don't get the points until after 31 July, they still count towards the 600 for this year, not next year.

Oh and you should be able to claim the jetblue flights with jetblue. but that's probably not worth the hassle.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
