Hi all,
I've been a "dormant" QFF member for a number of years now, having only taken the occasional domestic flight now and then. However, with the possibility of increased international business travel this year I'm finally starting (unbelievable, I know!) to pay a little more attention to the importance of Status credits. So please bear with this relative noob and your advice on the below would be much appreciated.
I'm currently Bronze with 140 SCs and my membership year ends on 31 August, so I need 160 SCs by then to attain Silver. I have a couple of flights booked for April that will give me 240 SCs, which means at that point I will qualify for Silver. (I have already taken 4 eligible QF flights.) I understand I will enjoy Silver membership through 31 August 2014, and then for the next membership year as well, so til 31 August 2015. Am I right so far?
Now I will have 380 SCs (=140 + 240) at this point in April. If I would like to try for Gold, which requires 700 SCs, does this mean I will need to obtain another 320 SCs before 31 August 2014 (not 2015)? The SC balance doesn't reset to zero upon attaining Silver, only at the end of the membership year, right? Will I also need to take another 4 eligible QF/JQ flights along with the 320 SCs?
If I do not earn these before 31 August 2014, everything I have accumulated so far will be reset, right? I guess this is the important question as I'll be paying cash fares (not enough Points to redeem for ASA runs) and so obviously I want to ensure every dollar counts and I plan my travel timing carefully. Which means I'll need to concentrate my travel between April and August.
I guess at least I will still have attained Silver this year.
Thanks for reading
