Hi all,

I realise that qantas isn't a partner in the Starwood program to transfer points however was wondering if there was another way I could convert my Starwood points to qantas?

All help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Not that I am aware of.
Qantas has a direct earn credit card strategy so limits the options to convert points from other programs.

Otherwise you could go Regular Amex - Starwood - Qantas

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Starwood used to be a partner - and in fact, if you converted 20,000 starpoints to QFF points, you got a bonus of another 5,000 points on top! Sadly, that ended about five years ago.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a suitable "points laundering" scheme - you'd need to see who Starpoints can be transferred to, and then see if any of those schemes has a transfer arrangement with QFF.

Or just do what I do now - use the starpoints for upgrades/free nights/50% off awards.

No way to directly convert them to QFF points. However it depends on why you want the QFF points and how many SPG points you have.
Example if you want 2 J awards to NZ and you have 60000 SPG points then open an Aadvantage account, transfer the SPG points to that-gives you 75000 AA miles and enough for 2 J return awards to NZ or a return J award to HKG,China,Thailand,SIN etc or a Y return to the USA.
AA have announced that coming soon you will be able to use AA miles on aa.com to book QF awards.that will make it much easier to do.
just thoughts.

If you could anyway, why convert to QF as they are pretty lousy burn rates, relative to the other SPG airlines partners out there, like drron's example below.

Just to add another example, transferring SPG to US DM; for every 20K SPG => 25K US DM (given 20K US DM plus 5K bonus). 25K is a Y return within South Pacific to South Pacific, best value is PER/MEL/SYD to PPT return [revenue fares are always over $1500!].

What he said, this pretty much applies to anything you can earn in both the Qantas program as well as others. For example, if you could credit something to either Qantas or AA, most people would default to AA because you get much more bang for your point/mile.

It is possible but it does not appear to be a cost effective way

20,000 SPG points -> 25,000 VS Flying Club miles
25,000 VS Flying Club miles -> 50,000 HHonors points
50,000 HHonors points -> 7,500 QFF points

I seem to recall at one time Qantas were offering double points but was that from Priority Club only or HHonors as well?

Are there any airline ff programs that can transfer to SPG? i.e. to gain SPG points.

Are you looking for bonuses to transfer to SPG or just a normal transfer?

I am sure it is possible to go from airline -> Hilton -> SPG but the conversion rate would be very poor.

not really :)
I know you can transfer SPG to airline FF quite easily, finding it hard to find a good transfer rate for airline to SPG.

I applied to change my "old" Diners card to the new combined Diners/Mastercard combo. The woman on the phone assured me over and over that I would be able to wash points through SPG to Qantas. I have my doubts but will see what happens
(also posted in a Credit Card thread)

Hate to spoil your fun but you wont be able to wash points through SPG to Qantas, no matter what the Diners woman said.;)

sure, I found it very hard to believe when she was telling me. Maybe she mixed it up with qatar on the list? :)
I did it for other benefits. It wasn't a game changer either way

Regards

(and indeed it's all still a bit of fun)
