Hi

My wife and I will be going to a wedding in NY end of May next year for about 3 weeks. We want to use our US Airways dividend miles. We have more than enough for First class. As its a short trip we'd like to get there and back with the minimum of breaks and wait time. Can anyone suggest a speedy itinerary. I've been told that going First class may make booking a quick itinerary hard? If we do fly business which airlines have the flatest (180 degress) seats.

Thanks Paul

Your options out of Perth on Star would be SA, TG or SQ. Without looking too much into things, I am guessing you would be best to look at SQ, as they do PER-SIN-EWR. You would be on the 772/330 out of Perth, and the 345 out of Singapore.

I've heard availability of this flight is nearly impossible

PER-SIN-EWR (SQ) would be choice #1 if you can get seats. But it'll be J not F.

Alternate might be PER-AKL-LAX-JFK/EWR using NZ/UA (again J not F for most of it).

PER-SIN-PVG-EWR (SQ/UA)

PER-BKK-FRA-EWR is only 2 hours more (TG/LH/UA).

Note the UA may acutally be CO metal.

The star alliance search tool is really useful.

Surprised nobody has suggested PER-AKL-LAX-JFK on NZ (last segment is on UA).

I know it's a two stop strategy (32.5hrs out, 39hrs return), but might be a better option specially with NZ's revamped hard product on AKL-LAX.

Ahem, reply 5. THe CO (now UA) product has better availability to EWR than JFK.

SAA PER - JNB - JFK?

Otherwise I'd opt for PER - SIN - NYC

OR PER - SIN - NRT - NYC with the last leg on ANA?

Well there is no J availability on Singapore and while I can get to Joburg from there to NY is a no no.

I'm looking at
05/23 Thai 482 Perth to Bangkok departing at 4:45PM and arriving at 10:45PM
05/24 Asiana 744 Bangkok to Seoul departing at 1:20AM and arriving at 8:30AM
05/24 Asiana 222 Seoul to New York departing at 10:00AM and arriving at 11:00AM

and maybe
06/13 Turkish 2 New York to Istanbul departing at 4:45PM and arriving at 9:25AM (+1 day) [their brand new 777 with flat business class]

on the way home
The guy who is helping with my booking is struggling to find anything decent from Europe to the US

No availability on the AKL LAX leg

Do Lufthansa allow you to redeem business class on their A380 flights via Dividend miles??

i notice they have A380s that go from SIN-FRA and i think from FRA-MIA then maybe a hop up to JFK???

AirNZ seem to release seats about 3 months out from travel. May is a good time to be travelling as is just before the peak. I would wait, and then start checking every day from about 100 days out. If you don't find anything by about 80 days you coul book return to Europe have a stop there and enjoy yourselves and just buy a flight over to new York, there are some very cheap deals usually NY to europe.
