I'm interested in flying Sri Lankan business class Singapore/Frankfurt return next year.
Can anyone offer feedback if they have flown with them before ?
eg the website advises flat beds available, depending on the aircraft. How do I know I'll get a flat bed ?
Is the service & amenities in business class OK ?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Their J fares are very reasonable ex SIN. Have not flown them myself but there are plenty of trip reports if you google.

Sri Lankan is generally a pretty good airline. i enjoy them. Service is good, the meals are generally good.

For $2000 you can't go wrong.

As for the seating issues, you'll need to do your research, as the older style wouldn't be ideal for a long haul. you might want to call Sri Lankan with the flight numbers on the day in question and ask them what equipment is planned for operation.

Flew that rout last year and hope to fly same rout next year, can't fault the service, Sin-Colombo will be the usuall J seat NO flat bed as its only 3hr + flight but Colombo to Europe are all now lie flat beds, theJ cabin if I think are 19 or 20 seats we only had 9 people in ours , meals and drinks could NOT be faulted and the service the best you can get, like another poster said , " for $ 2000 a great buy", the time we did the trip aug and sept they were doing renovations to the lounge in Colombo but the temp place they used wasn't the worst lounge we have used , the new one should be open now, enjoy ( you will ) the trip.

Flew them to FRA and out of CDG two weeks ago - can't fault them for the price. You'd be VERY unlucky to get a non flat bed aircraft.

If I were paying more I'd complain about the limited PTV content however for the price it's simply unbeatable. Good whack of points and SCs for QFF too!

Thanks for the report!

We're getting to the interesting point now where even a fully paid Qantas business class fare AU-SIN, combined with a Sri Lankan paid fare to Europe, is coming back cheaper than QF premium economy all the way to London for many dates before Christmas.

I don't know whether it is an accurate assessment or not - but assuming pax in PE are not really flying on business, and might therefore have a few extra hours to make the journey... the QF/UL combo seems excellent value compared to pure QF PE... double SCs and lounge access and flat beds.

I found Sri Lankan okay, nothing special, but nothing bad. The lounge in CMB is pretty poor, but that's about the worst part. Next time we go to the UK as a family I plan on getting a return SYD-SIN and then doing SIN-CMB-LHR rtn. Will do a few days in SIN and CMB each way. It's pretty cheap in Colombo, and a trip up to Kandi is worthwhile. Some very relaxing resorts and reasonable prices, good cheap eating, drinking and shopping.

Can'tfind the point earn/SC between CMB-FRA/CDG with the QF calculator. Anybody know how many SC's?

Singapore to FRA/CDG return got us around 12000 points and got 160SCs each direction. Though believe this was technically before the changes they're making to partner earn.

Can't speak highly enough of UL given the price.

Wouldn't pay more than $3k for the flights though- at that point it's worth spending more on a direct IMHO

To secure a flat bed is pretty simple, anything on an A330 is a bed, if you are on a 737 it's not.
Here's a little tip. Fly from Oz to Bankgok and then fly BKK-CMB-CDG. Great connection at CMB and A330 on on both legs.
KUL/SIN-CMB is on the 737.

One more tip;
From Mel, fly Royal Brunei J to connect MEL-BWN-BKK to connect well with BKK-CMB-CDG.
From BNE, fly ScootBiz; OOL-SIN-BKK to connect well with BKK-CMB-CDG
From Syd, Fly Qantas; SYD-BKK to connect with BKK-CMB-CDG.

Great advice, but how about Perth, and claiming QFPoints and SCs.

Thanks for this!

Just out of interest I had a quick look and am getting results for just under AUD4000 MEL-BKK-CDG and return in peak season this year (December, returning Jan).

Pity the flights are on Royal Brunei. I'm not brave enough to support them.

No 737s in UL's fleet. I suspect you mean A320/1s? (they have 9).

From Our Fleet
One of their 7 x A330-200s (configuration 2) still has cradle business class seats.
Three of their 6 x A340-300s (configuration 1) still has cradle business class seats.
One of their 6 x A340-300s (configuration 3) has 30 cradle and 8 lie-flat business class (ex first class) seats.
The older A340s are now being phased out, being replaced by new A330-300s.

Yes, my wrong guess.
As an aside, I have often flown MEL-SIN on JQ or QF and then taken the 9.30pm CX 777 from SIN-CMB. Sadly that service seems to be ending later this month. The alternate SQ and EK flights always arrive too late into CMB for my liking.

I don't mean to be a smart A----s, but Perth, the other side of Australia from Melbourne, near Bali.

Colombo lounge was fine, very good food (imo) and adequate drinks on offer.
Food in J from Colombo to Heathrow was also very good, nice variety and plenty of it. My seat didn't turn into a completely flat bed, but was ok for a day flight, a complaint if it really is one is that for me the screens are too far away. No noise cancelling headphones, I did mention that in my survey.
The crew are very accommodating and I'm looking forward to my return leg which will be a night flight and hopefully a 'flat' bed.

Thanks for the update. Do you remember the aircraft type that didn't have the full flats? I take it this wasn't their 'new' product offering?
