SQ921 - Manila to Singapore - Saturday 16 April - which config for the B777?

Hi all

I will be on SQ921 on Saturday evening, from Manila to Singapore.

Does anyone know which config this flight uses?

I flew from SIN to MNL on Tuesday night on SQ918 and it was a very old B777 - old style seats and loop IFE. Was quite a disappointment compared to the A380 service from SYD to SIN earlier in the day. Service was still excellent, very attentive and great food and wine.

Flew this leg Mar 4 - 2-2-2 space beds

Booked again same flight May 10 - hoping for better experience next time.

I would have reacted the same way about that meal as you did.

I might stock up in the lounge before the flight, just in case the meal options are the same.

The food was bit of a letdown on the SNG-MNL flight on Tuesday night too, I guess they don't put too much effort into the smaller regional flights. We had green tea ice cream with red beans for dessert, no choice either. Tasted alright but not what I would have picked.

The reisling was excellent though, as were the three Singapore Slings!

Well I hate slamming SQ ever - I am a SQ devotee - I love SQ.

BUT - you gotta be honest and highlights deficiencies where you see them.

BTW food selection in SQ lounge in Manila is not that great - wine selection no better.

I am a convert to SQ as well, I am such a fan. I flew economy with them back in 2008 and they were great in the back of the bus. Have got holidays planned in Asia in June/July and I will fly SQ then too - once again down the back so that will be hard to adjust to after the luxury of J.

Will definetly let you know my thoughts after the flight, I have a 3 hour stop over in SIN before connecting with my flight home to SYD so I should have time to type up a half-decent trip report. Hopefully moving the photos from my iPhone to the work laptop won't be an ordeal, seeing as I don't have iTunes installed on my work laptop.

Don't need iTunes - just email from iPhone to an email account you can access on laptop - SQ T3 J lounge has pretty good WI FI most of the time.

OK so you are on SQ231 to Sydney? You sleep ok on that flight? Sorry my bad - just checked - thats the 380 - you should sleep ok.

I usually try to get SQ237 to MEL departs 00:25 now - drop a sleeping tablet as soon as I get onboard and sleep like a baby.

If food no good on SQ921 the food in lounge is pretty good even at late hours - they keep replenishing.

I often go to Hard Rock Cafe in T3 to have their ribs and down a couple of Margaritas if I have a couple of hours in Sing to spare - I like their ribs - I LOVE their margaritas

I love this flight! I'm always flying in Y but have got 3 seats to myself the last 2 times I've flown. Booked on it in September for Formula 1 so not expecting so many vacant seats.

Arriving in SIN at 6am Friday and hitting the ground running :mrgreen:

Yeah its the A380 - I hope I can sleep on the flight. I have managed to sleep a bit on QF J upstairs in the 747s... and the A380 is so much quieter so I should be fine I think. Couple of wines with dinner/supper on the plane should help too.

Thanks for the tip with the iPhone/email.... I will be able to do that so I can do a bit of a trip report while in the lounge. At least the FAs will be friendly on the flight so that is always amusing.

I flew BNE-SIN-MNL-SIN-BNE in November last year, it was a b777-200 on SIN-MNL & MNL-SIN, very old seats and partly working IFE and only one option for dinner.

Was very happy to get on their A330 product in SIN.
