I'll be travelling CBR - LHR and back in J in the near future and while I'm a QFWP I suspect the QF price will come back cheapest so...

I have a lowly red Virgin membership so...

Do I simply use that for any miles/ status from this trip or is there some value in joining Krisflyer instead?

I hope holding a J ticket gets me access to decent lounges so actual status won't make the trip any easier.

Thoughts?

Well a SQ J BP gets you into a better lounge at SIN than a status pax in Y.

Krisflyer miles expire after 3 years, so it depends on whether you'll fly SQ again after this trip. Check how much VA miles the trip would earn as well. At least it's a little bit more useful if you want to fly around domestically.

J return on SQ should net 560 SCs so if you have or plan any eligible sectors with VA you'd have gold. If there's two of you flying and you family pool you'd be WP (with 8 virgin flights).

If you book the flights as VA codeshares I think they count as eligible sectors, but normally there's a reasonable premium on top of the SQ fares so may not be worthwhile.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
